I've long been questioning the sanity of some people at liverpoolreds, but this poll takes the biscuit.
Well, not so much the poll itself but the fact that five people want Stevie to be stripped of his captaincy and two want Liverpool to sell him for good money.
And those people call themselves football fans, let alone Liverpool fans? I don't even know what to say.
I'm not even going to comment on the "let's sell Steven Gerrard for good money" part.
Why can't people get it into their heads that it's not just a couple of matches that decide whether a captaincy is deserved or undeserved but a lot more than that? That a captain shouldn't be seen as a convenient scapegoat or a wizard who can lead his team to victory single-handedly every time? That there are ten other players on the pitch beside him, and that every single player is responsible for a victory or a defeat, not just the captain?
Steven Gerrard, in my opinion, is the player who fits the title of a team captain best in this world. He meets the requirements perfectly and completely, and if you check the interviews with his teammates, you'll see that they all agree. I couldn't imagine a better captain for the current Liverpool team than Steven Gerrard. He's done so much for the team and the club that questioning him right now, when the entire team is going through rough times, is respectless, tactless, ungrateful and utterly uncalled for.
But I guess that people who want Rafa to get fired so that Liverpool can buy back Xabi Alonso can't be taken seriously in the first place. *shakes head*
