discontent: the first step in the progress of a man or a nation...

Things that annoy me these days (in no particular order):
  • the snow. The weather doesn't seem to care much about the fact that winter is over. No, it brings us snow, storms and temperatures around -2°C with a dedication that is exemplary. I'm so fed up with it. When there's just a thin layer of snow on the streets, people suddenly forget everything ( Read more... )

Haha, I'm always ready for long comments! It might take me ages to reply to them because I fail at time management, but that doesn't mean I don't love getting long comments. XD

LOL, I've heard about the HP fandom minions. And about minions in all kinds of other fandoms. They simply don't understand that people who give constructive criticism aren't doing this for fun, but because they want to help. They don't realise that writing constructive feedback takes a lot more time than a one-line squee comment, and is, therefore, infinitely more valuable. I pity them, really.

I told someone that the hospital scenes were off in a fic and the response was "I didn't do research, because I don't care much about it"
That's exactly what I mean. People don't care enough. And I should not feel insulted when someone pushes a fic in my face and at the same time tells me they don't really care about it? Why, then, should I care to read it?

The bad thing is that the really horrible stuff (like idiotic nicknames) spread a lot faster than reasonable things.

I do value every good conversation, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I wish there was a bit more to it. That people wouldn't treat me like a distant acquaintance when we read each other's journals, and show a bit of interest when I leave them comments. Sometimes I deliberately visit the comment page of an entry after I've left a comment, and sometimes there's a reply to every comment but mine. Or there are tons of nice, happy comments for other people, and I get a comment that basically says "ah, you have an opinion? well, it's not as if I care much."

And no, I'm definitely not talking about you here! I never said that I only add/read journals that write about football exclusively. A lot of my friends write about RL things. Sometimes, I know what to answer to a certain post so I write a comment, and sometimes I don't, but there are no bad feelings and it doesn't dampen our "relationship". (Or do you think it does? *bites lip*)

Good luck with your Spanish lessons! And thanks for your kind wishes, I'm really enjoying it a lot so far! :D

no, no, our "relationship" is fine!
I could have made my point up there a bit better, kinda merged to things into one, so it sounded different then it was intended to :S (sometimes it's smart to reread what written before hitting the post button)
All I wanted to say was, I have some sort of a friending police. And if people would read it, some of them would be less surprised by the topics they find in my LJ. I was agreeing with you, but sounded like an idiot.

One thing that annoys me sometimes is the lack of beta readers. I don't care if one is a native speaker, they make mistakes too. And if it is a really unlucky mistake it can throw a whole segment off.
But maybe I'm a bit weird at when it comes to that. According to "my writer" (the person I used to beta for) I took beta reading to a whole new level. She was glad thou and I learned a lot. win-win, I'd say
If I ever write fanfiction again and you read it, I'd welcome your constructive feedback. just saying. and if you think I wrote crap, say it. I might pout for day but then I'd take it to heart.

I've seen in other comments there was talk about characterisations... don't get me started there.
I know I repeat myself and it starts to sound lame but I do really read RPS seldom. Mostly because the people are just written as some stereotype. In the football fandom the best example is Cesc. There is the lack of respect I mentioned before. Or at least, for me it is.

Hmm, there was more I wanted to say but I can't remember. next time :p
