this weekend...

  • On Thursday we had our annual Christmas party at work. Everyone contributed to it, and so we had a HUGE buffet with about 30 different foodstuffs. And it was SO YUMMY. I ate far too much, and I almost couldn't move when I had finished. *LOL* I complained loudly that there was too much to eat and one couldn't try everything without being extremely stuffed afterwards. XD Once I get the photos, I'll definitely share a pic of our awesome buffet.

  • Yesterday, my parents and I drove to a little town about 1.5 hours from Augsburg where their former workmate is buried. We hadn't visited the grave since the funeral, so we decided to finally make the trip. We also went to an awesome restaurant where I had the world's best (probably) roast saddle of lamb with a tomato-rosemary sauce, bacon beans and little potato croquette balls. I salivate when I just think about it. Must try make it myself.

  • I also finally managed to take my Christmas mail to the post office, and once again realised how horribly expensive German mail is. It's preposterous how much we pay for parcels. *sigh* Anyway, I hope the postcards and parcels will arrive in time at least!

  • I missed the Bayern match against Bochum on Saturday because of the trip, but at least I got to listen to a match commentary on the radio, and OMG, was that an awesome match or what? FIVE goals! Fucking awesome! I'm laughing at everyone who said that the brilliant 2nd half performance against Juventus was a one-off, and I honestly believe that they finally turned things around. Of course, if Schalke and Werder had shared points last night, Bayern wouldn't be third but second in the league, but I'm not complaining at all. :D

  • Some notes about Valencia vs Real Madrid:
    1. Those Valencia fans are HOSTILE! Even the kids! WTF. crazy_girl_86, I hope you didn't go to the match!
    2. I've never seen a match with so many wrong offside decisions. O__O That referee team should be whipped. Then again, if they hadn't misjudged all those situations, Valencia would probably have scored 3 or 4 goals. *sigh* Pellegrini really must practice the offside trap with his defense. Especially Pepe doesn't seem to get it.
    3. Casillas is God. Why can't he make that many fantastic saves in the Champions League, when I'm playing Fantasy Football and would get points for it? XD Though Joaquín's goal was a bit of a blunder. I suppose Iker thought I'd be happy if Joaquín scored (which I am, I just wouldn't have needed it in this match). ;)
    4. Higuaín is fantastic. If anyone's interested in his post-match interview, I could upload it. He was a very happy camper. XD
    5. It's hilarious how much Spanish commentators love goals. No matter which team scores, they go insane cheering, and they don't even seem biased. XDD
    6. I'm sorry for Pepe. I know I always said he was a huge liability in Real's defense, but I would never wished 6 months of convalescence on him. Seems he'll miss the World Cup, too. :(

  • Liverpool vs Arsenal: Decided not to watch it because I watched the Blackburn match and we drew, so I didn't want to jinx Liverpool yet again, but it seems not watching isn't a solution either. Of course, this is Arsenal, but we would have needed those 3 points so badly. I want Liverpool to reach a CL spot this season, damn it! *sigh*

  • Athletic won against Zaragoza, goals by San José (on loan from Liverpool) and Susaeta! YAY! Though I'm really worried about the eagerness with which this team collects bookings. The referee booked nine players in this match, seven of which play for Athletic. Of course I haven't seen the match, so maybe the referee just loved booking people (it wasn't Iturralde by any chance?), but I know Athletic as a very physical team, a team that never gives up, a team that fights with everything it has - which is one reason why I love them, but it can also be dangerous. Amorebieta and Susaeta will miss the next match, Toquero has collected four yellows so far. *bites nails*

  • Villarreal won against Atlético with goals by David Fuster and a late one by Joseba Llorente, who had just been subbed in 8 minutes before. They're 10th in the league now, and considering that they were 20th not so long ago, I have every reason to be happy. Also, nobody was sent off this time - then again, Gonzalo Rodríguez is still serving his ban...
