I don't understand a word these guys are saying (especially when they're speaking Basque), but goodness, do I adore them. Every single one. *glomps them all*

La Liga was awesome this weekend. Athletic won 1-0 against Atlético, Villarreal thrashed Tenerife 5-0 (how the hell did that happen??? O___O), and Real beat Getafe 2-0. I missed all of these games because La Liga hates me and schedules all interesting matches exactly I'm planning to have guests. However, considering the awesome results, I definitely have to download one or two of these.

From what I read, Joseba Llorente scored twice for Villarreal, and considering that article I posted recently about Villarreal's striker problem, this is excellent news and a huge relief. The same applies to Giuseppe Rossi, who scored one goal. And for once they managed to end the match with all 11 players still on the pitch. I hope that this will give their confidence a boost and keep them on this successful track for the rest of the season. I can't express how happy I am that it took them two matchdays only to jump from rank 20 to 13.

Javi Martínez scored the winning goal for Athletic against Atlético, and I really hope he won't leave in summer. Granted, he might do Liverpool a lot of good, and they've been interested in him for quite a while now, but it's so glaringly obvious that Athletic need him. If he wants to wear a different shirt, let it be the one of the Spanish NT! I'm also pleased that Athletic managed to do without sending offs this time. (Why is it that my favourite teams have such a bad habit of getting their players sent off on a regular basis?)

Speaking of sending offs, naturally one of my Spanish teams had to contribute to the tally, and quite early at that. As I haven't seen the match, I'm quite at a loss about what Albiol did to get a straight red in the 28th minute, but as usual I'm forgiving him for it because we didn't lose. (Also, it must be quite difficult to keep a cool head when playing alongside Pepe.) Higuaín once again proved why he's worth a lot more than all those expensive new signings because he's scoring goals like it's his favourite hobby. Looking at the Getafe squad, I'm happy to see some familiar faces in the starting line-up (or the substitutions). It's great that Dani Parejo and Adrián González are getting play time, and I was also pleased about Torres having recovered from his injury and played the full 90 minutes again. (I wonder what happened between him and Iker in the player tunnel before the match... ;) Is there any footage?)

In other news, Luis García (who drinks Sangría) scored for Espanyol and Negredo (please come back!) for Sevilla. And Piqué headed the ball into his own net, allowing Real to catch up a little. I'd hate the league to become boring already. ;)

Considering the other leagues I follow, the less said about them, the better, I guess. Liverpool failed to win against Fulham despite the motivation they must (should?) have drawn out of the fantastic win against ManUnited last weekend, and both Jamie Carragher and Philipp Degen (why was he even playing?) were sent off with straight reds. Just like Bayern, who didn't manage to get more than a goalless draw out of the match against Stuttgart, they're sixth in their league, with a distance of 9 points (Liverpool) / 4 points (Bayern) to the top. Not the best situation I could imagine for them, especially since I believe it's time for them to win their leagues again. Why must they torture me so?

Hope you had a satisfactory football weekend! Shall I let you know if I find any of the La Liga matches I mentioned for download?
