yes, the archive still exists...

Thanks to porridgebird's recent posts I remembered something that most of you might have forgotten about already: my fanfiction archive.

I felt horribly guilty about not having updated in ages, and so I decided to put a little work into it again today. There are some new fics (we also have a neat RSS feed, by the way!), and I also updated the character profiles.

As of today, we have a total of 72 members (of which 44 are authors), 569 stories, and 46 comments. That isn't bad, but it's still not much. We don't really have much traffic either. I think this is rather sad because so many of us love fanfiction, sometimes even write fic themselves, and I thought this would be a good chance to stumble upon fic one hasn't read yet, or encourage one's favourite writers to write more by posting kind comments.

Of course, I can't expect it to become a success immediately, especially since it's still rather "biased" and lacks variety. But I had hoped that those who complained about this would be the first to try and change it. Well, I was wrong. Those who said that the Liverpool/Spain bias was too strong failed to submit anything that might have reduced this bias. Those who said that they didn't get any comments didn't write any either. I got a couple of recs but hardly anyone heeded my call and created an account.

Today, I reset the submission feature, which means that only the moderators/admins can submit fics to the archive. Thus we can keep a certain level of quality and don't have to bother with formatting issues, as it has been the case recently. Of course, this means that once again there's bound to be a bias towards my favourite clubs and national teams because with the little time I have for LJ, I don't read about players and teams that don't interest me. And this is where I need your help.

1. Name your favourite author(s) in the football fandom. No matter which club/players they write about. No matter if you're friends with them or not. If you think that they do high quality writing and produce exciting/interesting/wonderful/etc. fics galore, I'm sure I want to archive their fics, and I'll contact them about the archive.

2. Give me fic recs. Any recs are welcome, but preferrably those that don't feature Liverpool FC or the Spanish NT. Tell me WHY you recommend the fic(s).

3. Pimp the archive. Tell everyone and their mother about it. Maybe some people wouldn't join anything I recommend to them, but if the recommendation comes from YOU, chances are that a few of them will think it's a good idea.

4. Visit the archive and participate! Create an account if you haven't done so already. (If you want to create an account but don't want me to archive your fics, please tell me.) Write comments, rate stories, add fics and authors to your favourites... There's so much you can do! If the writers who have an account at the archive realise that their fics get attention, they might have more reading material for you soon!

What are you waiting for? XD
