some notes about the final...

May 27, 2009 22:50

1. OH MY GOD.

2. What an exciting match.

3. Once again, a CL winner couldn't defend the trophy.

4. Resting your entire squad before a big game can be a mistake.

5. Barcelona played beautiful football tonight. Every football fan should be impressed by their effort, it was an absolute joy to watch them.

6. Manchester's famed defense didn't pass the test. Barcelona's famed strikers did.

7. Lionel Messi had a great match. I know he can play better than that, but he was still great. And scored with a header against a defense of giants. Messi >>>> Cristiano Ronaldo, and I so hope Messi will win this year's World Footballer (and European Footballer). Some of his moves today were other-worldly.

8. Puyol was fantastic. I didn't think of Dani Alves ONCE during the entire match, Puyol was just everywhere, in the back and up front, and was brilliant at all times. My crush on him has increased tenfold. (At least.)

9. Xavi and Iniesta had about a billion ball contacts. I'm so impressed by their performances.

10. The referee did an overall good job. Thanks, Massimo Busacca, for not just being rather fit but also doing some fit refereeing (*winks at abbichicken*). He made one mistake, but thankfully it wasn't decisive. The mistake being:

11. Paul Scholes should have been sent off. What an ugly foul.

12. Pep Guardiola won the triple this season: Spanish league, Copa del Rey, and Champions League. IN HIS FIRST YEAR AS COACH.

13. Once again, Bayern dropped out against the team that later won the cup. ;)

This list might be edited/extended as soon as my brain calms down again.

OH MY GOD.
