The German team's preliminary nominations for the Euro are currently being broadcasted on TV, and supporting Spain seems more and more inviting to me, to be honest. *sigh*
Goal: Jens Lehmann, Robert Enke, René Adler
Defense: Arne Friedrich, Christoph Metzelder, Clemens Fritz, Marcell Jansen, Per Mertesacker, Philipp Lahm, Heiko Westermann
Midfield: Michael Ballack, Torsten Frings, Thomas Hitzlsperger, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Tim Borowski, Piotr Trochowski, Simon Rolfes, David Odonkor, Jermaine Jones, Marko Marin
Forwards: Miroslav Klose, Mario Gomez, Kevin Kuranyi, Lukas Podolski, Oliver Neuville, Patrick Helmes
Shitload of questionable decisions, y/y?
*facepalm*
The goalkeeper decision seems questionable enough to me already. During the Euro qualifiers, Löw affirmed again and again that every player that was being considered would be tested in qualifier games and friendlies. So can anyone tell me what René Adler is doing in the Euro squad? As far as I remember, he hasn't even played a single game for Germany so far. Granted, Hildebrand hasn't really played such a great season at Valencia, but I don't think he's the only one to blame for that. Also, there are a lot of players who got nominated despite having played badly throughout the whole season. Not to mention the case of Jens Lehmann, who played a total of 7 (seven!) games in the Premier League this season.
Same goes for the nomination of Metzelder (8 games in the Primera División - not much better than Lehmann). Also, I'm not too happy about the nominations of Schweinsteiger, Trochowski and Odonkor, because they played rather crappy seasons for their clubs and haven't managed to shine in the national team either. Whereas I have faith in players like Klose, Friedrich, Fritz, Jansen and Podolski, I don't think the aforementioned three will be such a good addition to the team.
Don't know what to think of Marko Marin. Are we trying to copy FC Barcelona and give our "Bojan" a chance? The problem is just - our "Bojan" is 19 years old and has next to no first league experience, let alone international experience. Like Adler, he hasn't played a single game for Germany yet. I'm worried, I really am.
And WTF, Jermaine Jones? *headdesk*
My hopes rest on the fact that Löw has to reduce this preliminary squad by three players until the Euro, but that doesn't bring Hildebrand back.
