BERLIN, BERLIN, WIR FAHREN NACH BERLIN!!!
*bounces around like a mad person*
Wow, we played awesomely tonight! I'm so proud of my boys!
Some notes on the players:
Kahn: Wasn't really tested that often but was there when he was needed, so he totally deserves his record of seven DFB Cup finals. Thank you, Olli!
Lell: Collaborated excellently with Altintop, very fast, good crosses (unlike Sagnol, so I'm glad Hitzfeld let Lell play!), clever defending, except for that mistake in the first half where he lost the ball and allowed a chance for Wolfsburg.
Lucio: Was mostly seen in Wolfsburg's half, didn't do much defending, got a yellow for a foul. However, he's responsible for one of Bayern's rare good chances during the first half when he sent a sharp header directly towards Benaglio.
Demichelis: Man of the match. And no, it's not just me who says that, the commentators did, too ("world-class performance" I think were their words *is so damn proud*). They still can't pronounce Micho's name, but I'm glad they acknowledge his brilliance. ;) Seriously, Micho was everywhere. He did some great defending, especially against the taller Ljuboja, won a lot of duels, his passes into the midfield were clever and precise (which isn't always the case, so double-yay!), and he even advanced himself on occasion and created chances. Once again, that man showed me exactly why I adore him. :)
Jansen: The better alternative for Lahm, who had a couple of weak games recently. I'm glad he got the chance to play, he showed some effort and outran every of Wolfsburg's defenders. His crosses weren't as good as Lell's, but he can build on his performance.
van Bommel: Is it just me or was today's performance a glimpse of last season? Van Bommel didn't shy away from tackles, won some very important duels (like the one before the 2-0) and was a solid rock in the defensive midfield. I hope he'll continue playing like that - he can move mountains. :D
Zé Roberto: Once again I was surprised how well that man handles the ball and the opponent at the same time. He's really awesome at tackling, very fair, and doesn't fall too quickly. Sometimes, he was even too fast for me in claiming the ball, and I was just a spectator with a big screen! Wow.
Altintop: Of course, he still isn't in the shape he was in at the beginning of the season, and he should try to shoot a bit more often, but he ran a lot and positioned himself cleverly for one-twos with Lell and van Bommel, and his crosses were good.
Ribéry: Some people argue that we depend too much on him, and in a way, I have to agree, so I'm glad he had a good day today. He was fast and clever, always had an eye for his colleagues, did some cool defending (entirely calm and composed, he dribbled in Bayern's own penalty area and got away with it - I nearly suffered a heart-attack!) and he scored a brilliant goal by tunnelling Benaglio.
Klose: I'm very glad that Klose scored again - I missed that somersault of his! :D And this time, someone else didn't even play billiards with him, he scored that goal all by himself - well, with a little help of...
Podolski, who took a volley shot at Benaglio and the goalie led the ball to the side, where Klose stood waiting. Podolski was practically invisible after the first 10 minutes of the game, but I think being in the right place at the right time doing the right thing is what good strikers are made of. :)
THANK YOU, BAYERN! :D
Van Buyten, Ottl and Sosa were substitutes for Lucio, van Bommel and Ribéry, but apart from van Buyten winning a couple of duels, they didn't do much.
