grenchen, liverpool fc - sv werder bremen (part 4)...

Jul 19, 2007 17:44

Finally, here's the last batch of photos. The quality is a bit crappy, and I apologize, but my camera really hates it when there's something shiny in the dark, like illuminated buildings (Brandenburg Gate) or floodlights. Pics either turn out bright and blurry or dark and oversharpened. I can do something against the dark, but the quality remains bad. I'm sorry. :(

I hope you like them nevertheless! Alas, Fernando Torres kept his distance from me (XD, how that sounds!), and Kuijt was too quick. I'm quite proud of that one pic of Xabi Alonso, though. The look on his face, the bulge... I wonder what he was thinking of. XDDD

After the match, Bremen's players disappeared very quickly. Liverpool did four additional rounds on the pitch.

When the players had finished their rounds, we (kurdt105, her mother and I) joined theellibu and manuanya in front of the terrace and saw Daniel Agger's last stretching exercises. :D manuanya has a MUCH better pic of this, though. *snickers*

Then, we walked around the building to the teams' buses. I had never done such a thing before and was nervous as hell. Would the players be there? Would we get autographs? I felt like a little kid in an entertainment park. We didn't get autographs because the exit of the building was right in front of the bus and the players got on the bus immediately, but we could see through the windows of the bus and that was amazing.

kurdt105 and I were standing directly in front of the window behind which Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres were sitting. Torres had his mobile in his hand (pretty blue screen XD). I don't know if he was typing a text message or looking for a phone number, but if it was a phone number, it took him pretty long to find it. ;) Finally, he put the phone against his ear and started talking. Xabi sat next to him, showing us his pretty profile. ;) Then, suddenly, Fernando stopped talking and put the phone down, just to start chewing on it a moment later. kurdt105 and I almost died laughing. If he was that hungry, why didn't he get himself something to eat, like Jack Hobbs, who sat in front of him? (No, I don't mean he should have eaten Jack. XD) Jack was eating a huge baguette (whilst talking on the phone). Seriously, the baguette reminded me of the ones Garfield always eats. XD I'm sure that this baguette had a higher nutritional value than Fernando's mobile phone.

After a while, Xabi got up, leaned forward and dug his hand somewhere between Jack and the shadow of the seat. I wonder what he was looking for. XD By then, we - not knowing that it was Jack Hobbs - assumed it was Steven Gerrard, but a few moments later, we spotted him a few rows away. Well, it would have explained Xabi's sudden groping! Later, it turned out he was looking for a book, because when we looked at him again after having gushed about Jack Hobbs' baguette, Xabi was reading.

Next to Fernando Torres, on the other side of the gangway, there sat Peter Crouch, and we got to see his whole face because he's so tall. I don't know what he and the guy sitting behind him were doing, but Crouch was laughing all the time, and at some point, he almost fell out of his seat. What I'd have given to be in that bus!!! And by the way, the bus belonged to a company called Wenger. It could not have been any more hilarious. XD

Yes, this is Xabi. ♥ Unfortunately, you don't see Fernando, but at least you see his mobile phone. XD

After about 10 minutes of what I'd call the Most Intriguing Soap Opera in the World, the bus left, and Fernando Torres gave us one last wave. I guess I waved back like an idiot. He might not have fully convinced me with his performance on the pitch that day, but he totally convinced me with his adorableness. The mobile-chewing, the waving, the way he looked whilst talking to Xabi on the bus... Aww. Welcome, Fernando. :)

When they were gone, we walked back to where theellibu and manuanya were standing. From what they told us, they had spent the whole time the bus was still there arguing with some Dutch Liverpool fans. Apparently, the Dutch fans told them that since they were German (or German speaking), they have no right to cheer for Liverpool when they're playing a German team. WTF??? *facepalm* Also, that one Dutch guy couldn't even pronounce Dirk Kuijt's name. A shame. But we didn't let that ruin our evening.

We strolled back to the train station, exchanging interesting anecdotes of the match. Apparently, Stephen Finnan and Daniel Agger had a moment shortly after the first half was over, when Steve walked to the bench and Danny jumped up, seeing nobody but him. Aw. I would have loved to see that.

On the train, we said goodbye to kurdt105 and her mom, and then, we went back to Basel. On the way, we passed Liestal, the place of birth of Philipp and David Degen. XD (Proof.) We had a short night at the youth hostel and an even shorter morning together in a café at the station, where we had our breakfast before we had to part ways already. But no matter how short it all was and how unreal it still seems, it's a memory I never want to miss. :) Those two days were absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to go to a football match again. :D

Oh, and I need to share the dream I had that night at the youth hostel. I dreamed that after the match, we sat around somewhere in a garden (white plastic tables and chairs and all) and suddenly, the Liverpool players arrived for a photoshoot or something. We were told to stay right where we were, because we would be on the pictures to make everything seem a little less artificial and more normal. (WTF?) Anyway, Stevie appeared behind theellibu and put his arm around her, Xabi started a conversation with manuanya, and I started getting pouty because nobody was interested in me. Just like everytime I get nervous, my fingers were tapping on the table in a quick rhythm, but not loud enough to draw everyone's attention to me (I could never do that). I was just about to sulk when suddenly, my fingers brushed someone else's. I looked up and froze. There was Riise, grinning at me and telling me that he quite liked my hand there and if I don't want to put it back on the table, preferably next to his. O_O When I did it (because hell, who am I to say no?), he moved his hand a bit and entwined his little finger with mine. And then, I woke up, because the Asian girls with whom we shared a room made too much noise.
I love my dreams. They're so WTF. ;)

I bet there are a million things I forgot about this evening, but I just can't think of anything else to say right now. kurdt105, theellibu and manuanya, please refresh my memory! :D

Oh, there's one last thing. At the end of this very long report with which I shamelessly spammed your friends pages (sorry 'bout that!), I want to thank kurdt105 and her mother especially for making it possible for me to see this match. ♥
