Why some of our government services SUCK

So I hate to bitch...well in public...but here goes:

My daughter has contracted Scabies...a little mite that digs it's way under the skin and makes you itch like friggin crazy. I noticed she had this since about mid-September and never knew really what it was til about 2-3 weeks ago when my sis-in-law told me she thought it looked like scabies (her being a Nurse).

Well I bought the treatment you are supposed to use over the counter - Rid - for Lice/mites. I used it on her twice and felt bad cause it was stinging her when I put it on.

I cleaned all the sheets and clothes in HOT HOT water and HOT dryer. NOTHING seemed to work.

Today, I broke down and took her to the doctor - it was bad last night - usually it doesn't keep her from sleeping but last night it did. I thought you could just go to the health clinic and they'd see you and take care of you, especially when you wave the paper green things they call money. I was REJECTED. They turned us away. If "I" was the one...they would have seen me right away as an STD issue and they don't want someone running around Austin with an STD without reporting their name everywhere. But it was my daughter who is having the problem.

So...pissed as hell, I go to the People's community clinic across from St David's. "If you're not an existing patient you have to call to get an appointment, new patients can't do walk in". Called Pro Med - "$80 minimum just to do walk in". Finally - the Austin Regional Clinic on Far West and mopac..."sure, we can see her, oh by the way - if you pay cash for services right away, you get 25% discount" So...the bill was $109 and not including the medication which I have to go pick up here soon...imagine if I took her to the hospital? CRAZY. Once I get my tax return, $480 is going towards insurance for her for a year. I hate this crap. January 3rd is my day...I get to call the Atty Gen's office and have a warrant issued for someone.

I'm so IRRITATED at the fact I'm turned away by health clinics because I actually WANT to pay money to use their services....instead - I have to pay out the rear for those individuals and my daughter to be seen. I paid taxes so that I could use services? No, we pay taxes for OTHERS to use those services. Yes I have used some in the past but it was actually more stress and not worth the headache you have to go through to get the help. God help me that I never need to use those services again. I'd rather be educated and employed than rely on them to do anything for me...

SO MUCH ANGER - One of these days I think I'm going to go Postal.
