It has been a good day today! I used to chide those who spoke negatively of their mothers with such histrionic statements as "There will come a day when you'll wish you spent the time to stay in touch with your mom. Mine's no longer here...etc,etc" But I realized I was just displacing some of my own anger at losing my mom onto other people.
After thinking more about it and talking with others about their relationships with their mothers, I found that it was not so simple. I was very lucky that I had a very good relationship with my mother - she had given us an all-accepting love. It also helped that we ( my sibs and I) were good kids - never in jail, never got into drugs or got girls pregnant, etc. But not everyone has had this combination of luck and work come together. I realized others had loving yet more complicated relationships with their moms so that's why I say if you have a good relationship with your mom then don't take it for granted. For those that don't, then I am not the one to say they should or shouldn't just that today is a good day to ponder on that relationship.
