OTP Feels - A Headcanon

First of all, I realize I am completely and sadly obsessed with 'The Vampire Diaries' and more specifically Tyler and Caroline.  More often than not, I'm watching episodes, giffing or reading awful fanfiction.  The life of a fangirl. C'est la vie.

Anyway, I'm watching 'By The Light Of The Moon' (2x11) last night because I like to emotionally torture myself from time to time.  As I was watching it I noticed something that in retrospect had me feeling a lot of OTP feels.

During season three we saw Tyler wearing the color red on a few different occasions.  Now a casual fan can chalk this up to Tyler just wearing a color that suits him (Trevino looks good in every color ;)).

In 3x02 we saw Tyler "coming out" to his mother, Carol, in order to show her that because he was a "monster" he was still her son.  Tyler did this to not only finally tell his mother of the secret he was keeping, but to save Caroline whom Carol had kidnapped for being a vampire.  Tyler had to be strong.  In 3x04, Tyler comforts Caroline after her ordeal with her father, who tortured her and tried to cure her of her vampirism.  Tyler had to be strong.  In 3x20, after Tyler has been gone for weeks forcing himself to turn over and over again, breaking every bone in his body to break his sire bond to Klaus, Tyler shows up in public to be at the dance with Caroline; knowing if Klaus were to see him that things could end badly.  Tyler had to be strong.

Each and every time Tyler has wore red it has been a pivotal point in his characterization.  These have been episodes in which Tyler has agency and result in some of his best moments.

As 2x11 came to an end, Caroline emerges from her hiding spot in the woods and bravely heads back to the Lockwood cellar where Tyler has been turning into a werewolf for the first time.  It's then did I finally notice this...

Caroline is wearing red.  The color that represents strength in Tyler's life, and in a time when he was experiencing great pain and fear, Caroline was strong for him.
