For Geeks of WarHammer

Khereva and I went to the Lair to do the "Iron Builder" contest.

I had bought over Christmas an "Endless Swarm" of Gaunts which is about eight boxes of 16 models each. I had another box from the Apoc game the Lair did when everyone decided to split the prizes. So nine boxes of 16 models each! That's 144 models to build.

So I spent Thursday day and all day Friday prepping the models, ie, getting them off the sprues, cleaning them up and putting the parts in separate "pill" bottles. It took me about 18 hours total to do five of the boxes.

It paid off as I put them all together at the contest in less than three hours. That gave me time to finish three of the four remaining boxes. I was eight models away from finishing the "Endless Swarm".

I did win the category of "most piece count"! I had 128 models built plus seven ripper swarms made. Khereva won for best conversion and another player won the most vehicle category (of course that's all he made!).

As a prize I got a Rhino transport and pick up another canoness for my Sisters.

I declined to play with my models as I get cranky when tired, so Khereva and the other builder played a very hard battle. Khereva did very well considering that the other person had only tanks, vindicators, and whirlwinds!

Anyway, it was a great day and I enjoyed putting my models together. Although I feel like I have a nose full of plastic shavings!

On New Year's Day the Lair will be hosting an Apoc game. Kirk did have a "bring all you have" idea, but when Ray showed up, all of us quickly convinced Kirk to put a point limit on the game. As Khereva said, "Do you want us to have a turn 2?"

I don't know if I will go to this or not. It'll be easy to bring my bugs, but I plan to have fun on New Year's Eve and I may not wake up early enough to play! ;-)
