A Quite Day

It's a quite day here at work. It's Friday, Cinco de Mayo, and it's raining. Not a lot of people showed up for work. It's a good time to do the odds and ends of work, or Blog as the case may be.

The weather is funny here in Central Texas. The rain is acting like it wants to make up for the drought we had for the last nine months. Maybe it's because the weather decided to skip spring and jump into summer already. Mother Nature is hard to figure out sometimes.

Khereva and I have started to play a game called D&D Minis. These are the same minis that Khereva said he hated and would never touch! :-) I started to collect them as a way of making sure that our players don't mess around with our favorite painted minis. Since Khereva's minis are painted better than mine, everyone wanted to use his. The game is fun. It's short, takes about two hours to play, and can be as full of complications as you like or a simple run-'em-up-and-kill-'em sort of thing.

My lesson of life here is to stop throwing hissy-fits. I whine too much about the rules, stupid mistakes I make, and of course losing (I also whine about winning, which is another long post of introspection sometime soon). I'm not as bad as I use to be, but I still do it. The only cure I can think of is to play often and play to lose. I say this about every game. Maybe that's why I like to DM so much, I can't lose in that game! The only way to lose in roleplay is to make the players upset. So far this hasn't happen. At least, as far as I know...

On a totally different amusing topic is watching the MSM catch up to the internet. What they can't figure out is why everyone is talking about things that they are not reporting on. Like the Stephen Colbert thing, last night NBC tried it's hardest to figure out why the "conversation of the nation" was not NBC's talking points. The news story they ran still didn't get it. Someday they will wake up, but not now. The real story is that people are getting more of their news on line and not from them and I think they hate that!
