As the Circle Turns...

Ahhh, my life as a mini-soap opera, but nicer.

Found out that someone else got the job that I had applied for, back when...several months ago? Government wheels are slow but sure. Though my supervisor did thank me for applying and she gave me several complements about my work and stuff. I think that they appreciate that I want to advance, and more importantly, advance with them! So I was happy about that. It means that all my absences over the last couple of months were not looked upon unkindly. By the tone in her voice I had the feeling that she was complaining about someone else. I didn't say anything, you have to know when to let others vent feelings. I simply nodded and thanked her for her complements.

My co-worker who's losing her job due to funding cuts has been applying elsewhere. I know that she has had several interviews so here's hoping that she gets one. She came over to my office 10 minutes before I was to leave yesterday asked me to teach her all about HTML. I held back a laugh as I said, "Talk to in the morning!". So this morning I went over the basics with her. I don't know if she learned anything. She's a native Chinese and sometimes they agree without asking questions and then go do their own thing. I also taught her how to make a PDF. That at least I knew she understood as we kept repeating the steps to get there.

Because of gas prices (don't get me started!), I've decided to take the bus into work. Khereva and I worked it out that it will save us about $30-40 a month. I don't mind taking the bus. We save money, but I like our talks in the car. I don't know why but our most interesting and best conversations happen either in the car or our showers together. I use to take the bus when I first came to Austin back in '90. I spent six years taking the bus and got pretty good at it. But now, round I go again!

The bus company here in Austin has gone with having a swipe card for payments. I use to buy a bus pass by the month and that was that. It was best to get it at the beginning of the month as it was good only for the month in which it was bought. Now they've gone digital! A bus pass is good for 31 days. It starts when you first use the pass. Which is kind of cool as the company no longer has to print out passes for every different month. On the down side, I'm sure now the bus company can track my every move or at least every trip this pass makes.

Still, life is good! Our money matters seems to be on an up swing. We're in good health (don't snicker). My job is easy and my bosses are nice, (we'll see about the new boss when she gets here), and I'm in love with someone who also loves me (which is a circle that I always want unbroken)!

work, life
