I really need to get better about posting to my journal!!! Life has just been so busy that I think about posting, then don't get around to it for some reason or another.
Our house remodel project is moving along. We're adding over 500 sq. ft. to the house, and also an extra $500 a month to the payment, but it will be worth it in the end. I go to get my mom at my brother's in Colorado on Oct. 13, and will bring her to our house on Oct. 16. I hope she'll be happy. I know it's hard for her to leave her home, but she really just cannot live alone. Since she's been at my brothers for the last 2 months, she's had a few seizures due to blood sugar issues. I think they finally got her meds regulated better. I know it will be hard on us once she moves here. She has kidney dialysis 3 days a week, so any extended amounts of time away from home will not be possible anymore. I'm still not sure what to do about this Mr. Bowen man. He's still calling her a lot at my brother's house, and I'm sure he'll call our house once she moves in with us. I wish my mom could understand what this man was trying to do and the harm he's already caused, but she trusts him so completely. She doesn't understand what common law marriage means or what community property is. I had hoped he'd back off after she had left El Paso, which was in July, but he's still trying to convince her that he can take care of her. I'm still exploring legal issues to see if we can't charge him with attempted fraud.
Carol, our ferret shelter mom, will be leaving in a couple of months. There are 3 or 4 folks that have expressed an interest in sheltering once she's gone, but I have a feeling 1 or 2 of those people will fizzle out once they realize how hard it will be. We plan on turning our spare bedroom into a shelter room of sorts, but we won't be able to have more than 10-12 shelter ferrets at a time. Our busy schedule plus the amount of space available just won't allow for any more than that. We already bought the tile for that bedroom so we can take out the carpet, but we'll have to do that at a later date. Our monetary funds for anymore home improvements have dried up, but I at least wanted to buy the tile now so it will match the rest of the house. We picked up the Martin's penthouse cage from Carol and I spent the weekend cleaning it and we moved our kids into it. They really seem to love it. It's much bigger than their old Midwest cage and I was even able to put a tube on the top level.
