Dear (myboss),
You wanted the status on what we're doing for the power outage on Saturday? The updated status is "we're still hosed".
To wit: A) our CEO won't shell out for new UPS batteries since the shipping to get them here on Friday is more than the batteries themselves, B) Verizon was nice enough to inform me that they don't do power protection for older equipment so our T1s will still stop working immediately when the power goes out, and C) I don't actually have a UPS with a twist-lock plug so I can't slap a UPS on the Verizon equipment in the wiring closet (also see A above).
So yeah, the phones and network connection to all the field offices are toast off the bat, and we've got maybe 90 minutes before the whole server room goes dark.
And please remind the call center staff to open the door in the server room since the AC in there will immediately cut out.

EDIT: And now we're meeting at 2:30 to discuss. To discuss what, I'm not exactly sure since it seems pretty cut-and-dried to me.
