Ohhh. OUCH. (I can't believe you did that. *pouts* ;))

But objections to the death of certain people aside: that was fantastic, honey.

when the kids were 7, Toby taught them both how to throw a punch if they needed to defend themselves, and Molly had picked it up faster than Huck had.
YES. (Huck's not a fighter. *nods*) But Toby would completely do that, not realising that his kids are not growing up in Brooklyn in the 50s. *hearts him*

"He said...he said that's why Daddy died. Billy said that only bad people get cancer, and only the really awful ones die cause of it."
Left me breathless. Of course. But god, poor Molly. (And Andy too.)

Molly may have inherited Toby's dark eyes, but Andy will be damned if she'll allow her children to his sadness as well.
*wipes tear away* Hurt in all the right places. PERFECT Andy.

Molly thinks for a minute, and finally nods. "That's okay, I guess. I'm still in big trouble, though, aren't I?"
"Yeah, kiddo, you are. Nothing but school, homework, and music lessons for a week."
:) (And dancing. ;)) *sigh* Andy's the best kind of mom. (Duh.)

This is such a gorgeous vignette of the ouchy kind. Which is really what I like best about this family. Spare prose and just everything that *needs* to be there and nothing that doesn't. I lovelovelove Molly as a fighter, and Andy's gentleness after. ♥

I know, and I'm very sorry for any despair that may have caused you. *snuggles*

It was just, "...okay, this is going to be something that Toby teaches his children."

Molly thinks for a minute, and finally nods. "That's okay, I guess. I'm still in big trouble, though, aren't I?"

Well, yes, the dancing just comes with the territory. :) And I want Andy to be *my* mom.

Yeah, me too. I had so much fun writing this, because getting the balance between 'Andy the All-Powerful Congresswoman' and 'Andy The Mom' was difficult. Molly, on the other hand, was easier; in my head, she's this little powerhouse, sort of a mix between Andy, CJ, and-believe it or not-Donna. I can't wait to see what happens as she grows up.

(I'm so gonna write Molly again, Em. I *have* to write Molly again; I have a whole thing sort of worked out already, with her, Andy, CJ, and Danny. The Huck bits, I'm not too clear on, but...that's why you're here, right? :))

*snugs* :) Seriously, I was reading at work and I had to stop and read it twice. And try not to be sucker-punched. Which didn't work, of course. *g* (Killing Toby off hurts in a very specific and very bizarre way. But you knew that. :))

She definitely has plenty of CJ in her, I think. Because CJ's the cool aunt. And there's no way she hasn't been giving Molly tips. *g* But I love that Donna's in the mix. (I starting to adore Donna. It's very strange! *g*) (And: 15 year old Molly-in-my-head is fantastic. I can't wait to see what you do. :))

See, you and Laura write Molly; I'll cover the boy. You two have already done more with her than it would ever have occurred to me to do. *happysigh* I love the twins. :)

*sniffle* I wasn't even thinking of what that would do to you. I realized later that you'd be sad, but it was too late to come back and put up a warning. I'm so sorry. It'll never happen again., I promise.

Get out of my head, Em! Honestly, While I was finishing this up last night, I had this little...flash-memory of Molly when she's older, about 14. And you're absolutely right, the girl is amazing.

Well, I don't know how you and Laura do it, but I'm mostly just making Molly into the little girl that I never got to be, and giving her the awesome mom that I never had. (It's not quite as angsty and emo as it sounds, honest.) But, yeah, I'm loving writing Molly. Give me a new prompt!

I forgot to mention that Molly's going to pick up a lot from Annie. Because, well, she's Annie and we love her, too. (You know she'll watch the kids anytime Andy needs her to.)

And I'm sure I can make a case for Ellie being around the kids too, since, well, y'know...*G*
