Stepford case!fic
Several years ago I was reading a WIP, which I lost the bookmark for. I think it was updating really slowly, so I'm not sure if it was ever finished.
It was a Jack/Ianto fic in which Jack disappeared while investigating a small town and some disappearances, and when Torchwood followed him they found him living there with a wife (and possibly he had forgotten them). I think all the people in the town were missing people who had gotten brainwashed and trapped when they went there. The team stays in the town and have to pretend to be brainwashed, try to prevent it actually happening to them, and try to get Jack back, while they figure out what's going on. It turns out there's something in the food and water that's doing it. There were separate things in each the food and water that only had the effect when combined, so the team could still survive once they figured out the amount of time it took for each of the compounds to break down in the body.
I think that was as far as it got at the time. Hopefully someone will remember it, any help would be appreciated!
