Yes, I know this is disturbing. No, I won't let that impede me from relaying the story.

Last week I went to the beach and got very badly burned, most notably on my back and left chest area. The burn on my chest eventually blistered, leading me to label it a second-degree burn for dramatic effect. However, I've taken very good care of that burn, applying aloe vera on it daily, so damage has been minimal. I had gone a week without a major incident, until now.

Earlier this evening I stepped out of my shower and proceeded to dry myself. I noticed some oddly shapped water droplets on my burn and tried to wipe them off, to no avail. I acquired a quizzical look and tried again. Nothing. Magic? Evil? Hallucination? I decide since my towel is not up to Shamwow standards it must not be able to absorb oddly shaped water droplets, so I go to brush them off with my hand. That's when I notice the droplets are protected by a layer of strange material. And that's when it hits me.

Water had seeped into my blisters. I had become human bubblewrap.

A flood of disturbing images and ideas poured into my brain, but I'll show some restraint and not share them. The question is, did I proceed to pop them? Bubblewrap is my favorite iPhone application.

I hope to one day become a sarcastic columnist.
