I'm bored, so here's 66 pictures of Robbie Rogers. Just because he's pretty and awesome. I was going to do a Michael Bradley spam because he's just ajdflkjdslfs but that's probably at least 150 pictures (no, I'm not obsessed) and it'd take forever and I started too late. Anyways, some are watermarked, unfortunately, but they're still pretty. x-posted to
omg_yanks and only kinda in order. It's kinda iffy, though. And I'm not very funny with captions, so I apologize for the lameness. Cut text is from
this article, because I could never think up anything that cool.
A brief intro, since most of you probably don't have any idea who he is.
-21 years old, midfielder, from Huntington Beach, California
-Plays for the Columbus Crew in the MLS (since March 2007)
-Played a year of college soccer at Maryland and won the national championship with them
-Signed with Heerenveen in the Eredivisie (joining U-20 and residency teammate Michael Bradley) after his freshman year at Maryland but never played for the first team
-Played in the U-20 World Cup last summer for the United States and notched two assists
Screencap from an insanely cute video interview with Robbie and Michael Bradley, in which it was established that Robbie can't really drive stick shift, that Mike is the "Text King of Heerenveen," and that the two of them have a "special connection" on the field.
Our U-20 team last year was hot. Unfortunately, most of the guys in the next cycle aren't.
(Clockwise from top left: Nate Sturgis, Julian Valentin, Brian Perk, Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore, Danny Szetela, Anthony Wallace, Robbie Rogers, Tony Beltran, Freddy Adu, Sal Zizzo)
Aww, Dax. :) (And Danny, but Dax is more aww-worthy.)
Robbie also plays with the U-23s sometimes (because he's too old for U-20s now) but was cut from the Olympic Qualifying roster, but hopefully is going to get called up for the Olympics.
Robbie at Heerenveen. I love their uniforms.
Celebrating at the U-20 WC with Mike, Ofori Sardokie, and Freddy Adu.
Celebrating with Danny Szetela and Mike. Basically my ultimate OT3.
Needing a haircut. And not fat. It's just the wind. Or something.
So pretty.
Celebrating his game-winning goal against Chivas USA earlier this season with Scottish teammate Adam Moffat.
Headshot from his U-Maryland days.
Last year's Crew headshot. Kinda creepy just because of the way it was shot, but the eyes? Guh.
This year's headshot is much happier.
From the U-23 photoshoot where almost everyone else looked horrible and Robbie still managed to look hot.
Mmm.
Speaking of photoshoots, there was another one before the U-20 WC.
Sooooo adorable.
Seriously, he should model. Or something.
ajdfjkldsjf he's so happy!
Winnerrrrrrs.
See, OT3!
He's the one with the bad shinguard tan. :\
Standing next to Mike again. :)
Going up against U-20 and residency teammate Julian Valentin.
Celebrating with Marc Burch after he (Marc) scored the winning goal in the national NCAA championship.
With Maurice Edu, who now plays for Toronto FC and is a U-23 co-captain and has like 30,000 facebook friends or something.
Robbie and Mo and Chris Seitz are all from California and all ended up at Maryland. Robbie and Chris were roommates for region ODP camps when they were 12. (Um...I don't really know how to explain ODP. It's for promising youth players and it's in regions and states and it's confusing, but I'd assume all of the USNT players have gone through it.)
I love it when guys wear gloves and short sleeves. It just seems so ironic.
And I like irony. :)
LOL that guy's beard.
Flying through the air.
Fun fact: At a recent U-23 camp, the team did fitness tests and stuff, and Robbie was the fastest out of the whole team.
From some fan day or something with Columbus.
Signing a cup of some sort.
Aww, see, he likes old ladies! He's so adorable akdjfkdlsjfs!
Some kind of awkward warm-up thing with Dax McCarty.
Stretching with Mo.
SHIRTLESS. Unfortunately, this isn't a common occurrance.
He makes the weirdest expressions when he plays.
Pouting. See, he's so ready to model.
Oh, Austria. They beat us in the quarterfinals last year. It was sad.
Celebrating after scoring a goal during U-20 WC Qualifying.
Scrimmaging with the U-23 boys against the U-20s.
Celebrating or something.
Pouting again.
Wearing black compression shorts with white shorts? *facepalm*
Training or something.
Ooh, Robbie scored a great goal in this game! It was a laser!
Obviously, it was cold.
Okay, so about 8 games into the season, Robbie was doing awesome and had scored a bunch of goals, and all the teams realized this, and they figured out that the only way to stop the Crew from being awesome and winning was to kick Robbie out of the game. Literally. And the refs weren't calling it and it was upsetting. It's gotten better now, though.
Taking down a Weasley. (Actually, it's Jeff Larenctowitz.)
His hair looks silly like that, IMO.
Looking hot with Guillermo Barros Schelloto and coach Sigi Schmid at a press conference.
Looking silly against DC United.
Celebrating with Steven Lenhart A.K.A. Cabbage Patch after he (Steven) tied up last week's game against the Galaxy in the 88th minute. It was exciting.
I guess he and Wells Thompson play in the same marking area or whatever, because they're in a lot of pictures together.
This one from this year.
Then last year...
And again last year on an obviously warmer night.
Fun fact: Robbie has a tattoo on one of his upper inner arms that may or may not say "Lollipop". It looks like it says "Lolli---" something, and the only thing logical (although it's not really logical) is lollipop. But I'm not 100% sure.
Dribbling awkwardly...
Fun fact: At Columbus, they call him "Robbie Hamptons" because he's apparently like one of the rich kids that vacation in the Hamptons (like on Gossip Girl) or something.
Giving some sort of team talk. Adam and his beard are listening.
Getting angry at Troy Perkins.
Obviously Columbus is too cold for him, because he's wearing like, a furry coat over a hoodie. But seriously, he should model. Both him and Adam. Although Adam would have to lose the lollipop.
