remember back in the day
when 4/10ths of my entries were politically charged

bush-y comments?

then i mellowed out.

i just read an article in The New York Times Magazine about the core of the crusade against gay marriage.

WWJD.

people wore that on those cheesy bracelets and stick it to the bumper of their station wagons to display who they are, or rather who they think they are, and it almost seems condescending. but my question was always whether or not they took the time to actually analyze the meaning of those four letters.

I love how Jesus is potrayed as someone who went out of his way to chillax and such with the lepers, the prostitutes, Gentiles, etc. and in our nation (as well as the world) it has taken centuries to recognize people with a different skin color as legitimate citizens, never mind human beings, and just as long to grant women their rights...and all along it has been Christians/Catholics acting as the larger demographic(not sure if that is the right word). And now those same Christians are treating people according to who they are born attracted to...nice oneeeeceeeee^$#$#^*&*U(I(&%&^%%&$%$ *blood boils*

we just live in a hypocritical-pcpcpcpcpcpcpcpcpoliticallycorrect(politically correct? don't even get me started)-make cookie monster go on a diet-let michael jackson roam free- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4081276.stm -society and it won't change even if we try and we just have to wait until bish leaves and clench our teeth and rant until then because people are ignorant and annoying just like this typical rant but i suggest you go to that link and that's all im gonna say and have a nice summer and ok goodbye jess.

people panicked as much about interracial marriage forty years ago as they are now panicking about gay marriage.

about once a generation, a new (perceived) threat sends conservatives into a frenzy over the destruction of values, decline of western society, etc., etc.

within decades, those apparently outlandish shows of liberalism become the status quo, with few of the anticipated harms actually appearing but with significant civil rights' gains.

same goes for racial segregation, attitudes towards Catholics (will not hire ---> camelot), and slavery, though, granted, the South truly has not been the same since the end of the Civil War.

these people will never cease to complain and abuse. they will just find new issues. Bush's position as President only strengthens the resolve of the anti-gay movement, because its supporters feel that they can claim a crucial ally in the Oval Office.
