so the power came back on, on sunday it was, after 4 days.
now for some math: if the power is out all over durham for at least 2 days, multiply that by the number of grocery stores in this town. then multiply that by 2 for the refrigerator section + the freezer section, + 10 for the whole foods = all the kids in durham are fed for the entire month of january, plus the remainder of december, if not the whole damn winter.
we were thinking we'd just find a few frozen pizzas, but when we rolled up to that whole foods and saw the extra dumpster(one of those long ones without a top like in construction sites), i almost wet my pants, we peered in, and i almost cried. it was FULL, not to mention the compactor, that we didnt even get in, and the bike store dumpster that they filled with tofu and soymilk. all the processed soy products you could ever hope to eat, plus all the frozen waffles, hummus and juice. it was beautiful. so we spent the last 3 days dumpstering like fiends and eating like queens. this score is already legendary. kids are coming from all over the triangle and the suburbs and leaving with full cars and full trucks.
yeah, we're livin it up in the 'ham.
