A lovely long weekend was had by the Weevils. We took Friday off work and saw the doctor. She gave us the good drugs.
Then we went to the
Royal Ontario Museum and there were minerals and meteorites and diamonds and dinosaurs and The Bat Cave. Do not like the Crystal. And many of the interactive displays were not working. And the noise of construction in various parts of the building were very annoying and distracting. You know, the last time I was there (10 years ago??) most of the place was under construction. Will it ever be finished? Will they ever just leave it alone? *sigh* And I still miss
The McLaughlin Planetarium.
On Saturday and Sunday, there was a lot of cooking. I've been working late over the last few weeks and we've been reduced to ordering in or eating bread and cheese for dinner, since I didn't have time to cook and we used up all the make-ahead stuff from the freezer. So this weekend I made chili, beef stew, a ham, and pea soup. Will post recipes.
It was an all-around super-productive weekend. In addition to all the cooking, we did our usual errands, watched The Fellowship of the Ring and most of The Two Towers, K did copious amounts of laundry, we cleaned our bedroom (including the Midden of Doom that had formed in front of my dresser), and still had time for some supervised cat socialization exercises.
Ziva and Ben (that's the name we ended up choosing because it fit him best - thanks for all your comments and suggestions) are becoming really good friends. It's so adorable to watch them wrestling and racing and grooming each other. There's no more growling or hissing between them. Ella still hates all other lifeforms (except for K and me...most of the time), but she seems happier now because Ziva is spending most of her time with Ben. And Ben is so sweet! He purrs all the time. He has developed a fondness for string and ribbon-like things. This morning, he snatched one of my spaghetti strap tanks out of the clean laundry pile and tried to drag it off to his lair. The clean laundry pile is now out of his reach.
We still miss Sophy, but adopting Ben was the best thing we could have done for Ziva.
And that's about it.
