Los Angeles...the land of golden, unachievable opportunity. Here's our movie - score it and send it back to us. We're not gonna tell you what we want. All we know is the editor likes real dark music ala Terminator 3 and Black Hawk Down. But the execs think the temp is too dark. Make sure you emphasize the comedy. But the director hates happy music, so nothing cheery.
We're sorry but we just don't think you can handle "Rock Monster." Thanks for your submission.
(I haven't actually been rejected yet....I'm such a pessimist).
Actually I'm waiting to here back, at 2:30 am, from Mike Judd, the composer of the new series Caveman. Yes, I might be working on Caveman now. Sitcoms are not exactly my forte. Battlestar galacica is my forte, but apparently I'm not good enough.
No, I'm definitely good enough and could score that show with my eyes closed. But I probably said 2 too many awkward/invasive things so I didn't get the one job that actually opened up.
So yes, Caveman it is. But of course Mr. Judd expects the impossible, for me, in 5 hours, to adapt his sounds and styles and ghost write for him. One cue is accepted, but WAY close to being to far afield, the other is not. Two more on deck, waiting for his call, at 2:30 in the morning.
