FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK!!!!!!
Hey Greg,
I apologize for the long delay in getting back to you. It took me a lot
longer than I thought to go over everybody's materials in detail.
I really appreciate you pinch-hitting for us last week. Your work was
really solid. However, the full-time assistant position has been filled.
But, one of the reasons I've waited to get back to you is that there is a
possibility that Aaron might have to quit working for me this Fall. I was
hoping to know this weekend, but his situation is still unclear. So, things
are still pretty up in the air actually. And with my schedule as hectic as
it is, there are many more opportunities that may arise in the coming months
and into next year.
By the way, I enjoyed your cues. I especially liked your subtle
approach on the Sarah Connor clip.
You are on a very short list of people I will call if and when I get in
a pinch. I really appreciate you taking the time to audition, and then come
in and orchestrate, and hope we can work together at some point In the
future. I think you've got a great thing going. I don't know many people
that move right into town and immediately get their studio space set up like
that. You're way ahead of the curve, believe me! :)
Best of luck with all of your projects. Please keep me current with
what you're up to.
Warm Regards,
-Bear

And what I wrote back:
Thanks for getting back to me about the position. I can't lie - I'm
disappointed. Working on BSG with you a month after moving out here is
as close to a "dream job" as I can think up right now. Its part of the
reason, I think, that I appeared a little awkward/nervous over the
weekend - so many people I admire in the same room at once ( : Still,
I'm honored to be on your short list and will eagerly accept any work
you throw my way.
Maybe I can still take you up on your offer to see a BSG session?
Eureka is great, but BSG's got duduk's, taikos, string quartets,
erhu's and "All Along the Watchtower" so...

So its a partial victory I suppose. I MIGHT still get to work with Bear full time within
a month, or I MIGHT get to work with him here and there, or I MIGHT work with him every
now and then or quite possibly NEVER.
Nothing like a gray area!!!!!
But I feel better. Having one's dream job up in the air is the most ANXIETY PROVOKING situation
I can possibly imagine.
ANd I'm not learning any fucking lessons from this one. I did my best. I'm not gonna do any
better next time thanks to an insight gained from this "failure." Fuck that. I can't think
that way anymore, the odds are too against me. I can only improve myself to a point, and can't
hope to look into myself for "flaws" after every defeat. It doesn't work like that.
