Jenny shifted in sleep, her brows furrowing as images danced behind her lids, not quite strewn together in a dream-like state yet. She felt fingers in her hair, moving pieces aside and away from her face before the same fingers tickled across her lower abdomen.
In her sleepy state, she reached out, covering the hand with hers and smiling when she felt Rupert's wedding band. The sensation allowed her to further relax, until she finally slipped under.
When she opened her eyes, she found herself in a field outdoors, the sun high and bright in the sky, filtering through the leaves of the trees over her head. "Slow down," she murmured to whoever was up ahead of her.
Giggles echoed, the joyful laughter of a little girl. She quickened her footsteps, following the laugh. "Be careful. Slow down or you'll hurt yourself."
Sure enough, seconds later there was the sound of crying. She hurried to catch up, trying to locate where the sound was coming from. Up ahead, at the base of a tree she spotted a little girl, no more than five or six, crouched down in the grass.
When she reached her, the little girl lifted her head, back still turned to Jenny. Her pigtails bounced as she turned around, tears streaking her cheeks, and Jenny frowned sympathetically, going over to her. "What happened?"
"I got hurt," she whimpered, looking down at her leg.
Jenny knelt down in the grass with her, eyes going to the scrape on her knee. "This is what happens when you're not careful," she told her gently, and slowly swept her hand over the girl's knee, healing the scrape until not even a scar remained.
"Wow. You can make people better with magic?"
Jenny smiled into the little girl's wide brown eyes. "Sometimes."
"I want to make people better. I don't want to get hurt anymore." The girl met her eyes. "Will you teach me?"
She drew in a deep breath, unable to help the slight smirk. "If I say yes, will you listen to me this time?"
The pigtails bounced, and the little girl nodded. "I promise. I want to be a good witch, like you."
Jenny smiled. "Then, yes." Reaching out, she touched one of the girl's ginger pigtails. "I'll teach you, Willow."
