The next day left a feeling of confusion settled over them; they both spent most of their morning at the shop wondering just what exactly had happened the night before.

They were hesitant to bring it up with any of the kids -- there was no telling what kind of reaction they'd get after all. Not to mention, there was really no easy way of asking if anyone else had randomly burst into song. Not without sounding crazy, anyway.

Anya and Xander had brought in a box of bakery-fresh donuts and crullers, the two of them oddly quiet and pensive. Jenny thought to ask a few times if something was wrong, but then ultimately deciding against it, realizing the question could easily be turned around on her -- she was just as quiet and pensive.

Tara and Willow helped out in the store, quietly, and by mid-morning Jenny was starting to think it was more than a coincidence that none of them were in the talking or sharing mood.

They all looked up as the bell above the front door tinkled, and in walked Buffy. Rupert called to her cheerily, "Good morning, Buffy!" and seemingly startled her out of thought.

Jenny smiled. "Dawn get off to school okay this morning?"

Distractedly, Buffy replied, "What? Oh, uh, yeah. I think so."

As she made her way into the store, Xander started playing with the donuts again -- for the fifth time that day. "Respect the cruller. And tame the donut!"

Sighing as she passed him by, Anya told him, "That's still funny, sweetie."

"So, uh, no research?" Buffy asked. "Nothing going on? Monsters and whatnot?"

She, Rupert and Xander all shook their heads, and Jenny smiled her gratitude when her husband handed her a chocolate-covered donut, grabbing a jelly from the box for himself next.
