Giles took a breath and let out a sigh as inaudibly as he could, able to read the look in Jenny's eyes crystal-clear. Since Willow had been breaking out on her own more and more, less dependent on Jenny's approval or guidance, she had been stepping in and taking charge more often.
So Giles just gave his wife a sympathetic frown, and turned to Willow. "Anything else?" he raised his eyebrows, pouring every ounce of disapproval as he could into the query, letting her know in his own way that her new take-charge attitude wasn't sitting well with them.
"Weapons!" Anya broke in. "What do we have for weapons?"
Jenny held up the bag they'd brought with them. "Axes, stakes, crosses, the whole kit n' caboodle."
She set the bag in the grass and opened it up, distributing weapons to the children. He took the axe, and then they set off to their separate sections of the cemetery, while Willow climbed atop the mausoleum.
She began transmitting instructions to them using her telepathy, her voice ringing in his head. Before long, she was alerting them that a vampire was on his way toward them. He was a rather large fellow -- most vampires he encountered were on the frail or skinny side, but this one looked as if he'd seen his share of buffets before being 'turned.' Tara blew a powder at him, Giles assumed to confuse him, though it seemed to have no effect.
He began running along the headstones and Spike took off after him, followed by Tara, with Giles bringing up the rear, holding his axe.
Spike yelled in frustration as they reached a fence, the vampire nowhere in sight. "I'm never gonna get anything killed with you lot holding me back."
"I thought the big ones were supposed to tire more easily," Tara panted.
"No, that's over-the-hill shopkeepers," Spike quipped, throwing him a glare.
Giles leaned against a gravestone, out of breath from the chase. "I'm fine. I just need to... to die for a minute."
Spike turned to Tara. "It was that powder you blew at him made him rabbit off."
"It's sorbis root," she explained. "It was supposed to confuse him, but... it just kinda made him peppy. It's not supposed to mix with anything, you think he might be taking prescription medication?"
"Yeah, that must be it," Spike rolled his eyes.
"Good God, I hope he doesn't try to operate heavy machinery."
Surprisingly, Spike chuckled at that. "Yeah, we could be in real--"
"Guys, heads-up," Willow broke in. "The vampire's circling back towards you, six o'clock. Try to drive him back toward the Van Elton crypt."
"Is that the one with the cute little gargoyles?" Tara asked.
"Left! Make him go left!"
Giles threw his axe, landing it in a tree just to the side of the vampire's face. In response, the vampire took off running to the left and they followed after him. Once he reached a dead-end, that was when the activated BuffyBot jumped in and punched him in the face, knocking him down and standing over him.
"Big, fast and dumb. Just the way I like 'em."
The vampire fought back, but they swept in to help, he and Tara grabbing the vampire's arms to hold him back while Spike punched him. The vampire head-butted Spike and he fell back. Giles sighed, hoping his wife was having a bit more success on the other side of the graveyard.
