So I ran into my friend Cara at CoHo tonight. And told her I had to get up to be at the boathouse by 4:45 tomorrow morning.
The woman sitting at a table adjacent to Cara asked "So you're in The Guard?"
"No ma'am, I'm a rower. I row."
"Where do you do that at?"
"Branched Oak Lake."
"Where's that?"
"Oh, about a half hour North West of town."
"Oh, I just thought that since you mentioned getting up early, you were in the National Guard."
So apparently I look like I'm in the National Guard now? I think my hair's a bit too long to be a Guardsmans' hair, I still have something resembling a pot belly, and neither my arms nor my legs look anything close to big enough to be in any branch of the service, but it's a great compliment to me to be asked if I'm in the National Guard, coming from the way I used to look.
I'm walking taller, with more pride and self confidence than before. Thanks to Rob, Michelle, ViJay, and everyone else from the summer for that.
Rob told me last week, on his birthday that he felt like he, ViJay, Michelle, and I were the four corners of a house, of a home, and that he wanted to spend his birthday with us. Michelle's mom was on that list, but she had to be in bed early. I modified it. Rob, ViJay, Michelle, and I are the four walls of the house. Michelle's mother is the roof.
I love you all.
