[BGM 'Ai wo Sakebe']
Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Every Friday I respond to the messages received on this show.
First up is one from Riopippi-san of Hokkaido, age 15.
"Satoshi-kun, good morning. I have 3 older sisters and though none of them had boyfriends, they all managed to get boyfriends last year. I'd always thought I'd be the first to get married, so now I'm panicking. Satoshi-kun, what should I do to be more popular?"
You're 15 years old! You don't have to think about marriage yet! (laughs) Yeah. No need to panic. And like, being first to get married doesn't mean being happy. Mm. The order doesn't matter.
Well, but at 15... actually, isn't it too soon to be getting a boyfriend? If you got one now. Is that how things go these days?
I mean, when I was in middle school, it was like just one couple. Like the ones actually dating. Mmm. When I was 15... I barely knew what dating was. Yeah.
Well, just wait a little longer!
Next, from Miki-chan of Saitama, age 12.
"Ohno-kun, please hear me out. Lately, my sister who turned 17 has started using make-up. Although I know that's already the age to start using make-up, I was surprised. To think in the past, she didn't have a shred of femininity before. I really felt like she's grown up really fast. She's gotten a boyfriend and I don't know what she's thinking anymore. I'm a little lonely, but I want my sister to be happy."
Age 12. How mature you are! Right?
But you know, Miki-chan, eventually she'd use makeup, right?
Like, what I think is amazing about make-up is... Well, when I was in 5th or 6th grade, you do those 'Something Festivals', right? So there, each class does something, right? So I don't know if we were allowed to use make-up then, but there was always one girl who'd use make-up. She was really cute. She had lipstick on and all. I thought, 'Ah, make-up can make such a difference'. Mm.
So, Miki-chan, make-up is amazing. Mm. Miki-chan, when the time comes, you'll definitely use it too!
[BGM 'Bad boy']
Next, from Manaraii-san.
"Ohno-kun, good morning. Recently, at times when I'm like, 'I've done it now' at home, I start singing the bit in Ohno-kun's solo song 'Bad boy' that goes 'yes yes, everything's just as I calculated' (hai hai subete wa keisan doori sa). For example, if I trip over something at home, I go, 'yes yes, everything's just as I calculated' and I get over my embarrassment. Then when something's missing, I sing the bit that goes 'nai nai nai nai nai to nai nai nai'"
(Someone's having fun!)
"Ohno-kun's solo basically plays in my head throughout my daily life. Ohno-kun, do you have songs that you often listen to?"
Man, I'm flattered! But yeah, that's great! There's no deep meaning in that song. yeah.
Man, but like, lately I haven't really been listening to music. Like, I'm fine with nothing. In the past, I definitely had to have music on, but now I'm fine with having nothing on. Mm.
But like, you gotta let your ears settle. Then you hear all sorts of sounds, unexpectedly. Mm. Like the fridge going 'jiiii' and stuff.
Often, when I did my laundry I'd have music on, so I didn't know what my washing machine sounded like. But once when I did my laundry and didn't put music on, in my living room it was like... *silence*. Then...
I heard... Klunk klonk. Klunk klonk.
I thought, 'Who's that??'
So, I have this stick. I grabbed the stick and went to my living room door. Click. I opened it. Then I was like, 'Nobody's there'. Then I heard the washing machine noise again. Klunk klonk.
'Someone's there!!'
But the klunk klonk wasn't constant. Klunk... kiiing!
I heard that and thought, 'Someone's trying to open something!' Then I went to where my washing machine was and turned on the lights. The metal bits on my clothes - the buttons and stuff - was making the noise.
I was holding that stick - I was by myself then, but I was so embarrassed. Like, I was ready to fight someone! (laughs)
But I was like... If some strange person had been there, I figured they'd be the type to be wielding a stick. Mm.
Man, but that's how much I had music on. To the point where I didn't recognise the sound of my washing machine.
So like, you can hear all sorts of sounds, I think. I quite enjoy that. Folks, you might unexpectedly... you unexpectedly don't hear sounds close to you. So on that note, why not let your ears do without music for a while?
Thanks for 3rd February! (laughs)
And so with that, the weekly Friday messages have been answered. I'll be awaiting your mail. The address is arashi@fmyokohama.co.jp. I'll be waiting for you to send me lots of messages.
See you next week; this was Ohno Satoshi!
Take care!
