Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
For this last week, we'll be looking over the last 14.5 years.
Here's the thought of the day, come on!
Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
(laughs)
[BGM 'A Day In Our Life']
Did you notice it? I'll do it once more. Let's do it once more. Right.
Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
Yeah, just now, that was the greeting from October 2002, when I first started. I was 21 years old. I'm now 36!
I started on 1st October, 2002. That was my voice from back then. So after this, we've got the audio from that first episode. Let's continue listening to it.
Well, well, well. It's football. I can't play football, but previously when they had the World Cup in June, I went to watch it. Not only that, but it was
Japan VS Turkey.
It was all the way to
Sendai. I've never really seen a match before, so I figured I should go and I went.
And then... It rained. Umbrellas... Ah, I had an umbrella, but I didn't have a raincoat. So right, I figured I'd buy a uniform. I wanted to be united with everyone, but the uniforms were sold out.
(There's not a single good story in there!)
And then, um, I came home dripping wet. That's the memories I had of June.
(laughs)
I came back thinking football is a really interesting sport. Uh, I think I'd like to try football from now on.
(Liar!)
Right, this was Ohno Satoshi.
(laughs) Man, wasn't this edited? Somehow I just said that? That I wanted to try football? I definitely didn't think that!
Heh. Not only that, initially it was... I mean, I remember, the tickets were pretty hard to get hold of. Um, they had someone from the agency get them.
Then when they told us to go watch it, I went. Even though that in itself is pretty amazing... It was raining, I didn't have a raincoat, I didn't have a uniform... I didn't say a single good thing!
Firstly, I didn't even show any gratitude about being able to go! As expected of a 21-year-old! (laughs) So that was the first episode.
One more? I've been given another, I'll read it out.
'Actually, 1st October 2002 was a Tuesday. MORNING STEPS would start on a Monday and run for the week. So the day before, on 30th September, that Monday, there was a little promo aired.
So please gently call forth the 30th September 2002 Satoshi-chan!'
...That's scary. Ah, I see, so this was before it began, the stuff they had on the 30th. Should I call that forth?
Right, so the audio of me on 30th September 2002... Satoshi-chan, come forth!
Good morning. This is Arashi's Ohno Satoshi.
(Ohh.)
Tomorrow, at this time, during this MORNING STEPS show, ARASHI DISCOVERY will be starting.
(laughs)
It will be about the latest stories and accomplishments and misk-
(Hey!)
...It will be about the latest stories and accomplishments and miscellaneous knowledge. I'll have questions about all sorts of information from around the world in a quiz format and answer calls from all of you listeners.
(I'm totally reading in a monotone...(laughs))
I don't know a lot of miscellaneous knowledge, but...
(laughs)
...I'll take this as a chance to learn all sorts of things. I'd like to know more miscellaneous knowledge. If you have any miscellaneous knowledge you know of, please share them with me. Um, please share all sorts of things with me! I'll be doing this every day, so please do join me!
That was incredible. I was so serious! Um... Um, I was probably desperately reading. I'm bad at reading stuff, so like... I must have been doing it with all my might.
So like, it turned out to be like reading in a monotone.
Uwaaa... Like, that was fresh. Back then, like, I can sort of remember that naturally, well, I never really had to do this sort of thing alone before, talking by myself.
And then like, reading articles and stuff, I'm bad at that. Incredibly so. Even now, I still have problems.
Back then, naturally, I'd never really done that sort of thing before, so probably that was pretty obvious.
Mm. So I was just desperately trying, probably. So like, (laughs) Like, back then, I was doing it with all my might.
Now, I don't really know, but when I listen to that, I can sort of tell what I was feeling back then pretty much instantly.
How precious, the fact that we've still got audio like this left! You don't often get this, do you? Mm.
So from here on, it's almost April... Well, I don't know what will begin from here, but whatever it is, even a photo would do... Like, it's better to have something left behind so when you look back on it, like, you recall what you were like back then. I think that's pretty precious.
Well, in doing this, even just having the audio is interesting, right? Mm. Like even now, I'm having so much fun listening to my 21-year-old self.
Yeah. So on that note, we've received loads of mail. I'll read out at least the names of those we received.
Um, from Kinako-mochi-san, Sacchan of Hiroshima, Mayu of Gunma, 'I love Ohno-kun's laughter', Rippon, You-chan the Ohno-kun Fan, 'Burnt Bread and Soda Water', Satoko of Kanazawa, Yokohama, Ako of Tottori, Kayuko-san of Saitama...
There's still plenty more. Today's is just a portion of that, so really, thank you very much!
That's all; this was Ohno Satoshi!
