The next chapter of Missing Pages is coming, but in the meanwhile, I wanted to start up another funtacular discussion thread. Especially since the comm's been pretty quiet lately, and I'm a little curious who's still around. If you're a lurker, now is the perfect time to introduce yourself!
So the topic I'm thinking about is shifting trends among Harry/Cedric readers. If you've been here a while, what were you looking for when you first joined, and what are you looking for now? If you're new (hi!), then what drew you in?
I know personally, my tastes have shifted a bit over time. I started out by devouring all the fourth year rewrites, the school-age fics with first-time crushes and best mates, and Harry being all overwhelmed and Cedric being all suave. These days, however, it's all about the post-war stories of Harry and (not dead) Cedric working out their problems together, and attempting to lead adult lives. (Some things, of course, don't change, like my soft spot for coming out stories. Plus, I still enjoy Harry being all overwhelmed, and Cedric being all suave. :))
I think a lot of those changes are personal, simply because I'm at a different point in my life now than I was a few years back. But there are a lot of external factors, as well. We've now seen Harry fully grown in canon. Rob Pattinson has suddenly become an international heartthrob. There have been some amazing H/C fics that have really raised the bar in terms of what can be done with the pair.
So what's been your experience? Do you enjoy reading the same fics you used to? Are the "newer" members here for different reasons than the "older" ones? And even if you don't have anything to add to my rambling, pop in and say hello!
