i have another website to plug today, this one thanks to alison (so some of you may have already seen it). this time it's
pandora, which is this interactive radio station thing. but it's so much cooler and more intensive than other music recommendation systems, it identifies sort of the smallest musical units of every song and decides what combinations of these units you like. so it knows i like "born to run" because it has electric rock instrumentation, mild rhythmic syncopation, mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation, major key tonality, and romantic lyrics. boy do i loves romantic lyrics.
but the real reason for this entry was brought on by a conversation with alison/a comment by laura. laura says i was born to study library science (others have made the same point by now of course) and i won't deny it. but me and alison have discussed an early sign of this and i've been wondering if me and her are really, really fucked up or just mildly so. so the question is, have any of y'all played librarian as a child? like, trying to force your siblings and friends to "check out" your books and stuff? not only did i play librarian as a child, but i also played secretary. this mostly involved making fake documents so i could rubber stamp them and put them in file folders. yes, i am out of my mind. but this was really fun stuff for me. so yes, i am following my destiny. but anyway, is it just us?
