I wouldn't say I HATE the show yet, but I could grow to if it continues this way. There are just way too many characters and too many attempted subplots going on per episode, at least in 4x03. I agree with you about the teaser bits - actually I find those kind of annoying. There ISN'T enough screentime for all the characters so they try to squeeze in these little 12-second cameos of everyone and it reeks of sloppy writing, which makes me sad because I fell in love with House for being a show with such tight, admirable writing.

As for the potential ducklings I have no strong feelings for or against Cameron's clone yet, I didn't like the blonde woman but I love the ridiculously old guy to bits. Kal Penn I find downright annoying.

As for Foreman I don't know why everyone on the show seems to think he is the cat's pajamas when it comes to diagnosing patients when Chase is clearly the only one of the Ducklings to come close to being as good as House or to show the potential to be the next House. And I don't say that out of spite for Foreman or Cameron but because he solved two difficult cases when House wasn't there or was in too much agony to be functional. And in 4x02 he proved his abilities YET AGAIN. So I'm baffled as to why we're supposed to believe Foreman is supposed to be so good at this.

I really think giving House a whole new team was a mistake - there are simply TOO MANY CHARACTERS now. You can't give them all equal screentime and it makes the story rushed, sloppy and confusing. In the last two episodes I barely felt like we got to know the patient. In 4x03 the Foreman subplot and the House-wants-to-see-the-afterlife subplot were too rushed to be effective.

But I am hoping things will get better.

I hate what they've done to the show. I do. I have no investment in any of the new characters, other than an ever growing loathing for them. I wouldn't mind as much if they just got rid of Cam and Foreman and hired the 2 I liked. But they're adding 3 to the cast so Chase will be left with less than 97 seconds per ep while the newbies are shoved in my face.

And don't get me started with Foreman running a team when he couldn't diagnose himself out of a wet paperbag.

I'd love to believe things are going to get better, but I have zippo faith that it will. Makes me sad.

I did like the old guy.

The weird thing is, it seems like TPTB are trying to *discourage* investment in the potential ducklings because as soon as we get to know one a little bit - they're fired. With the exception of the blonde woman so far, who's gotten way more screentime then the others, so I wouldn't be that surprised if they keep her on. But yeah, I agree, they should just go back to the old cast, it was big enough as it was and there were already plenty of episodes where Chase (or Cuddy, or Wilson, or whoever) got ignored. It's like TPTB never heard the saying "too many characters spoil the plot."

I agree they could have gotten rid of Foreman and Cameron, not just because I don't like those characters but because those characters seemed to have grown as much as they can. In fact, they changed so drastically from S2 to S3 I don't even feel like they're the same people! But Chase definitely has a lot of interesting aspects of his character that should be explored. It's so *stupid* for them to ignore a fascinating well thought out and (so far) developed character for a bunch of random, annoying soon-to-be-fired-anyways characters.

I think that's why I got so excited. Chase got excellent growth in season 3. Foreman and Cam are just who they are. I really don't care about Foreman's arc. I don't care about him. he's simply a JERK. At least I care about House, even when he's a jerk.

There's so much more they can do with Chase. Make him more of House's peer and go from there. So much fun could be had.

And that's it in a nutshell. I won't invest in the newbies, most are leaving, so their interactions with House mean nothing to me. I much prefer what I learn from House with his interactions from clinic patients. All they had to do was bring that aspect back to each ep and leave the team alone.

TPTB like Omar too much. He's not agood actor, Jesse blows him out of the water and he's much younger. Don't hope for more Chase even if the team comes back. Shore has a crush on Jennifer and Omar is his best buddy. They never liked Jesse to begin with and they hate that Chase is popular with the fans.

One of many weird things happened in Houseland is that they made Chase to be this sweet, smart, interesting character but they don't use him. Jesse is the best actor among three ducklings and even he always tries to stay low-key,he still got noticed by the media, not to mention he does have fans. But somehow TPTB just keep pushing him into background. It just doesn't make sense. If any other show owns someone like Jesse, I bet he would be all over the screen long time ago.
I guess maybe bacause even though writers seems to love him, his agent is weak. Or maybe becase Jesse is really a sweet guy who doesn't ask for more screen time like others---Jen Mo once mentioned she initiated a Cameron-interaction-with-House-scene which didn't on the script. Or, just like you said, maybe because Shore likes Jen and Omar more. I really hope Jesse will jump out of this jungle if Chase continues to be a wallpaper.
Do you guys watch the preview of 404? It will be awesome if POTW is Chase's patient. But,yea,I know, she will interact with Miss 13 the Mary Sue. :\

Jesse made Chase an interesting character, Shore wanted a hunk House could make fun of. The viewers were supposed to hate him like the do the cutthroat girl now. there are no subtleties written into this show and I'm afraid it doesn't matter if he brings more to his character cause it will never be used.

That's what I fear. That the gift that is JESSE SPENCER will be tossed aside. STUPID SHOW

Although I too am unhappy about Chase's miniscule screentime early this season, I don't believe TPBP dislike Jesse. On the Half-Wit DVD commentary Shore praises him several times, talking about the "great job" he did in the scene when House looks at Chase and figures out he knows about the cancer (which Shore described as "a really nice scene for Jesse" or something like that), and calling the House-Chase hug "my favorite scene" in the whole episode. And it's not like Shore was indiscriminately praising everyone, either--I noticed he really didn't say anything at all about JMo's performance, for example.

Also, there are two other VIPs involved with the show who we know are very fond of Jesse: Katie Jacobs and Hugh Laurie.

I could certainly be wrong, but I am holding out hope. I remember being frustrated at this same time last season (when every episode seemed to be about Cameron and Her Issues), but ultimately Season 3 turned out to be a great one for us Chasers.

I would love for season 4 to have some happy/wonderful Chase surprises. But with 3 new cast members...I doubt it. Maybe Katie Jacobs will put her foot down? LOL
