I apologize for anyone I worried with my second sudden disappearance. It appears as though the elevator is feeling rather lonely this week, and it decided to take a few more of us with it for company. Oh, dear Elevator, if you are feeling starved for attention, there are better ways to go about it ( Read more... )

If you have any unresolved issues towards the Elevator that are in need of venting, I have no doubt that you'll find a way to express them, Lord Byron. I would suggest something in iambic pentameter, but you're the one with the poetic genius, not me.

I'm glad to hear you're 'doing quite well'. Honestly.

My issues with the Elevator are quite resolved, dear Ran. I only fear that the Elevator might have unresolved issues with me.

It wasn't my intention to worry you. These things not only happen but most of us wish them to happen. I am quite all right.

Well, I'd imagine that if the Elevator still had issues, it would have tried to keep you pressed close to its wooden breast for the duration. However, it was kind enough to spit us back out. Perhaps it does not take kindly to the taste of British petulance.

I figure, circumstances like these, intentions don't really factor into things, Argent. I appreciate what you're trying to say and do -- but it's not necessary, trust me.

A truly frightening possibility. I shall have to try to pay more attention to it in the future, so we do not get in such a desperate state again. Or, perhaps, remember to be petulant sooner.

Be that as it may, I still apologize.

Oh, is there an off-switch for the petulance, Argent? I thought that it was fairly constant -- the only variable being to what degree. Lucky for me, I seem to have a pretty high tolerance, so if you'd like to resort to preventative measures...be my guest.

Fair enough. I accept your apology. And quickly follow that up with a request for an audience.

Oh, unfair! Why do you all conspire to malign my character today? I am rarely petulant, Ran. I am a cheery breeze of fresh air!

Name your time and place. I should be quite delighted to see you again soon.

Consider it the Welcome Back Safely party, Argent. How does the old saying go? Even bad attention is good attention, since at the end of the day, it's still attention? Don't tell me you don't subscribe to this school of thought. Otherwise, I might have been all wrong about you from the start.

Since it seems like your social calendar is filling up quick, how about I leave the final sayso to you then? My only requests are that it's someplace you feel comfortable talking, and hopefully sometime sooner rather than later.

I honestly don't believe I have ever been a fan of bad attention, my dear. I do go out of my way to attract the good sort.

Do you work tomorrow? Perhaps I can visit you during a break? Otherwise, you are welcome to visit me at home sometime tomorrow morning, if that would suit you.

Well, from the looks of it, you've been doing quite a successful job at attracting the good sort, considering the sudden out-pouring of love and attention and offers at tea that you've received since alighting from the lift.

Yeah, weekends I'm at the bookstore, during the afternoon. If you want, I can visit in the morning sometime, if you'd rather get it out of the way early. Which reminds me, I found a small handbook on this 'cricket' of yours. Turns out it was a sport of some kind, though quite honestly, it would have made more sense if you were trying to practice an insect.

I... do appear to have been more successful than I had ever anticipated.

A sport, hm? Yes. That sounds right, actually. Interesting. I would not have taken myself for a sports fan.

At any rate, Ran. Please come by tomorrow morning, and we can have a chat. Sector 4? A few houses down from the elevator? I shall watch the journals so if you have trouble finding us, just scribble a note, and I shall do my best to assist you.
