what?... two columns in three days?

Several of my loyal readers (if you must ask, then yes, they are purely figments of my imagination) commented that Monday's entry was pessismistic and offered no hope for the future of America. That is not entirely true nor was it my intention to encourage widespread panic amongst the approximately one person who read it (thanks Emmy). Also, some people complained that politics are simply not interesting to America's youth. I am assuming the lack of actual, real-life comments, instead of complaints I made up, is your way of protesting. Well fine, if you want me to write about something else, then I will.

If you could take a road trip to one place in the world, where would it be? Most people will answer something like "The Federated States of Micronesia" or "Australia" or some exotic foreign country. Those same people, if we assume someone can only answer once, will then be disqualified from giving the correct response, which would be Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh is not, as many people would assume, the "pits". Laugh till your sides hurt but the fact is that Pittsburgh has more to offer than lung cancer. According to Pittsburgh.net (not to be confused with Pittsburgh.com, which is similar but doesn't quite have the "oophm" that Pittsburgh.net has) Pittsburgh was voted as one of the 5 Most Livable Cities in 1983, 1985, and 1989. In that same time period "Places Rated Almanac", the source of the rankings, rated Pittsburgh as "roughly equal" to Kabul, Afghanistan and Mexico City. Pretty heady compnay; Kabul supposedly turns beautiful just in time for the spring offensive.

Pittsburgh, despite the backhanded compliments from "Places Rated", is actually a very nice city. In fact, Pittsburgh has 729 bridges within the city limits, which makes it second in number of bridges only to Venice. That is actually a true fact too. For guys: if you ever take a girl on a date to Pittsburgh, go to Mt. Washington overlooking the city. I was there with my dad, but trust me on this, its a money place to go on a date.

I say take a road trip to Pittsburgh only because I plan to later this summer. It actually won't be a road trip per se...it only takes 4 1/2 or 5 hours to get there. The real reason for trying to convince you is that I'd like someone, prefferably with a large expendable cash source, to come with me. Actually if you really want, I hear Pittsburgh is on the way to Hawaii, you just kinda take a left at the Ohio Turnpike and then drive...and drive...and drive...and drive off a pier into the Pacific Ocean. Its real easy, lets do it.
