Happy birthday, Nino!
So the original plan was for me to post all of Nino’s birthday messages on Bay Storm from 2007 until 2015 but that didn’t work out because of the shortage of time… and then I decided I was going to separate it into two posts, one post with what I’ve done and one post of what I’m going to do on a 5 hour flight… But things don’t work out and I found birthday messages from 2005 and 2006 :( IT WON’T BE POSTED IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER. But oh well, it can’t be helped. I’ll see what I can do on the plane!
Unless I have mentioned that there is a change in speaker, it would be the main speaker in that context. For e.g., if it's a message from someone, the person who sent the message would be the main speaker, so their names are omitted. Nino's name would appear if he says something. After the message is read out, Nino would be the main speaker, and so STBY/Ookusu-san would be named if they said something. Hopefully that isn't too confusing, LOL.
Without further ado, let’s move on to the birthday messages!

(Read by Bucky Koba)
Nino, why are you so invigorating?
It’s no doubt that it’s because of your parents.
Nino, why are you so cheerful?
It’s no doubt that it’s because of your family.
Nino, why are you so loved by children?
It’s no doubt that it’s because they think of you as the same mental age as them.
Nino, why are you so popular amongst young women?
It’s no doubt that it’s because you don’t have a dangerous vibe to you.
Nino, why are you so loved by elderly people, like Clint Eastwood?
It’s because you act over-familiar with them, and you’re shameless.
Nino, how can you act so naturally?
It’s because you don’t think of people as people.
Nino, how can you look like you’re in deep sadness when you’re quiet?
It’s because you’re cheeky and know that it’s pointless to think too deeply, so you end up not thinking about anything at all.
Nino, why do you have a sense of freshness?
It’s no doubt that you were good at being able to secretly do nasty things.
But that’s good, too.
Live honestly, somehow or other, leisurely, and hurry and grow old to my age.
I think you’ll be a philosophical old man.
Kuramoto Sou.
--End of Message--
STBY: So, we received a letter from Kuramoto-san.
Ahhhh.
This is a surprise. That he faxed this.
Woah. It’s sent from the theater factory.
Hehh.
Ah, sorry.
This is amazing.
The other day, he came to Tokyo.
When he came to Tokyo, he called me and we talked, and said something like “Terao’s already 60, so they should at least get him on the phone!”
That was pretty recent.
It was around May, or something (laughs).
But yeah, I’m thankful.
You don’t often see this type of collaboration.
It’s Bucky Koba!
So, I wonder if Bucky Koba’s real name is Kiba…
It’d be Kibba, right?
It’d be like Terakado Jimon, right?
You’ve never done this? Terakado…
If you read it in on-yomi, it’d be Jimon Jimon. [T/N: Bucky Koba is written as バッキー木場 and Nino is saying that if his name was written in Kanji, people might misread it as Kiba Kiba. Same with Terakado Jimon.]
“I see!”
That’s a deep sigh, is do you really think that way? [T/N: Probably talking to someone behind the scenes…]
You don’t think that way?
Well, that’s rude to Bucky Koba.
Well, it’s not like I know if that’s the case for Terakado Jimon, either.
Yeah.
Well, I’m thankful. For stuff like this.
So it’s because of things like this that it’s a birthday special?
Well, but it was a fax…
Well, that can’t be helped. Really.
Why does his words look like a girl’s handwriting, sensei’s handwriting.
Well, sensei’s drama’s being aired again. It’s good, after all.
*Sighs* My close-cut hair is finally growing back.
My close-cut hair is growing, and the back of my head, the nape, it’s growing properly.
When I think about that, I realise that some time has passed.
Seems like Kagurazaka is amazing.
Still amazing.
A lot of people have visited there.
For me, after the Dome concert, I think it was on the 30th? All the people from Haikei came to see me and I said, “So, shall we have or wrap up party at Canal Cafe?
We passed through the front of it, but there were so may people we couldn’t get in at all.
So it’s basically telling us to make a reservation (laughs).
Up until then, we didn’t think there’d be a lot of people gathering there.
It was surprising.
But that’s amazing, really.
Well, I’m sure the people listening to this were surprised too,
but I received a birthday present. Thank you very much.
So, shall we move on to the ending? Let’s go to the ending!

A message guest?
Eh, seriously? No, it’s okay, seriously.
I, don’t think I can convey this properly to everyone, but when I go home I’ll probably cry, you know.
When I look at this, and see that so many people are celebrating with me.
I’m very thankful.
Well, okay, should we listen to it?
I guess we should listen to the message. Since they specially sent it to us.
So, let’s listen to it.
--Message--
Ninomiya Kazunari-kun.
Happy birthday.
Do you remember your mum? I’m Kikuchi Momoko.
Nino: Ahh! She appeared in Utaban.
Last year, we worked together during this time on a drama called Yamada Taro Monogatari, so I was able to directly celebrate with you..
Nino: That’s right.
It’s unfortunate that I wasn’t able to see this year.
Really, happy birthday!
Eh, 25 years old, huh.
It’s often said that when men grow older, he becomes more refined, his personality blooms, and he becomes more brilliant,
Nino: “It’s often said”, so they don’t actually become that?
so please spend your days happily,
Nino: Hey, mum. Say “often becomes”! “It’s often said”, huh.
and become a cool man.
Nino: I see.
But you’re pretty cool now. (laughs). Sorry.
Nino: You don’t have to say that! You don’t have to say that.
Um, I like Nino-kun’s acting.
I also think Nino-kun’s way of memorising his lines is prodigious.
Also, all the co-stars said that it’s easy to act with Nino-kun.
Nino: Ahh, so it was that case.
I think, no matter what, this is proof of a genius.
So I have really high expectations of your acting.
So please work hard and make us happy.
Oh, and one more thing, it’s about my daughter.
Nino: I knew it! I cut my hair! I did!
She’s 7 years old this year.
Nino-kun is her first love, someone she looks up to.
She said that even now, she wants to marry you.
Nino: Yes!
By the way, her name is Sayuri.
NIno: Yes. Yes.
I wanted her to become neat woman like Yoshinaga Sayuri, so I named her that.
Nino: Ah, that’s wonderful.
She’s 7 years old now, but 10 years later, she’ll be 17 years old.
Nino: Well, that’s true, mum.
At that time, Nino-kun will be 35 years old,
so how about considering her as your wife? (laughs)
Pushing away all the rivals.
Nino: Mum, is it okay to say that type of thing
Well, if you are able to grant my daughter’s wish, I’d be so thankful as her mother.
That way, I’ll be able to be your real mother.
Nino: That’s true.
Nino-kun, this is important, so please tell us how you feel about my daughter now.
Please tell us your answer. (laughs)
Happy birthday.
--End of Message--
So that was it, everyone.
Hey, really, she’s like this. I’m sorry on behalf of my mother.
Um, I really think that if I were to be married with mother, Kikuchi Momoko, I’d be really happy.
I think it’d be great if I’m able to marry someone like her.
Seriously, she treats people wonderfully,
well, I don’t know what she’s like at home though. (laughs).
But I think she treats people really wonderfully. Really.
Ookusu-san: Really?
I really think so. I think it’d be so good.
Anyway, for Sayuri-shi, *door opens, rustling sounds*, see, she even sent me flowers!
Ookusu-san: Oh! Amazing!
Amazing!
“Happy birthday. From Kikuchi Momoko.”
Ookusu-san: Ahh, amazing.
I feel bad, really.
During the wrap-up party, there was a bingo tournament.
So, in those situations, I really don’t win anything.
And this time, well, not this time, but when I was working on Yamada Taro
I won the Kikuchi Momoko prize!
It was a microwave.
I think it was a microwave?
Wait, it’s not a microwave, it was something like…
Ookusu-san: Something that you can cook a lot with…
Yeah. Do you know now? Well, it’s that thing.
The thing that everyone’s thinking about.
I won that.
Seriously, every time I see it, I bow to it.. well, I’m already using it.
But I properly received something like that.
And she sent me flowers.
Well, I think the thing mum’s most curious about is the problem with Sayuri-shi.
Yep.
But you know, I think if I were to go to their house and play, I’d definitely be able to capture her heart. Even more.
Ookusu-san: Sayuri-chan’s heart.
I have magic, now.
Ookusu-san: Oh, right.
I have magic, so I have complete confidence that I’ll be able to capture her heart.
She’ll be like, “Show me your magic!”
And, I’ve met her at our concert before.
Ookusu-san: Oh, her daughter?
Yep.
She came to our concert, with her daughter and her son, so I met her once then.
She was so shy and was panicking.
She hid inside Kikuchi Momoko-san’s skirt, you know.
Ookusu-san: That’s so cute.
Right?
The people who suddenly saw that situation were so surprised.
It’d be like there’s something in her skirt that’s moving very strangely!
In Kikuchi Momoko’s! Skirt! That’s probably what people were thinking.
She was that embarrassed. It was pretty bad.
This time, I’ll properly visit her house, and talk about it then.
About our future plans. I want to think about it with the two of us.
But yes, I’m very thankful. Really.
That’s what I think. Really.
Kikuchi Momoko-san, really, thank you for your birthday message.

Eh, Ninomiya-kun, happy 26th birthday.
This is Goji ni Muchuu’s 5th generation’s MC, It’s Me, Itsumi Tarou.
I’ve heard that Ninomiya-kun watches Goji ni Muchuu and I was very surprised.
Nino: I was thinking, I heard this….
But I’m really happy.
Nino: I thought I’ve heard this voice somewhere before!
This time, as a gift, along with birthday celebrations. Well, it’s not like we’re acquaintances,
Nino: No, no.
But I thought I wanted to send my voice! So I sent a message.
Eh… Well, this is my image of Ninomiya-kun,
Nino: (laughs) Hey, no, no.
Shiba inu? He’s like that.
Well, from appearance, he looks like a herbivore, but inside, he’s an absolute carnival, and he’s slowly, but steadily being filled up to the brim.
Nino: Ah, this is rare, to hear Itsumi-san talk about something so passionately.
Well, being 26… When I was 26, now that I think about it, I studied abroad in America.
Nino: Oh! We’re the same! Yeah.
It was the 2nd year after coming back, and I was really blunt.
I thought, what is with Japanese show business? I was angry that it was so different to America. Nino: So you learnt about those type of things…
I don’t think Ninomiya-kun would think like that, so that’s fine.
Well, on that note, really, happy birthday!
Once again, happy 26th birthday ya. [T/N: He says this in English.]
So, have a lovely 26th year.
This was Goji ni Muchuu’s MC, Itsumi Tarou.
--End of Message--
So, Itsumi-san.
Probably, just probably, he was saying this with a straight face.
A really straight face.
The power of his eyes is, as expected, really strong.
Ah, but as expected, Itsumi-san stuied abroad.
This is a year to study abroad.
I wonder how America’s show business and Japanese shows are different.
But there was a time that Itsumi-san too was blunt.
STBY: He’s good at English, isn’t he?
Yeah. By the way, what did he say just now?
STBY: (laughs) What, what did he say again?
STBY: (laughs) Ah! Happy birthday!
Ah, well, he probably said that in the opening statement.
STBY: Happy birthday!
Are you okay? With that.
STBY: Azu-chan…
So, the two of you. How about we play some English vocabulary and the two of you...
STBY: Ah, I see.
It might be good to do something like deciphering.
STBY: Ah, that’s good.
That way might be better.
STBY: So you have to say it with good pronunciation!
Woah, that was really good.
That’s why he still speaks it now.
You’re showing your experiences from studying abroad.
But that makes me happy. I’m thankful.
I watch it every day, I record it every day.
That’s why, I’m really, how should I say this?
Well, Goji ni Muchuu shows that MX Terebi is amazing. Seriously.
But I really want people to watch Goji ni Muchuu.
You’ll really be in a daze. [T/N: “muchuu” means to be in a daze, Goji ni Muchuu means to be in a daze at 5.]
I’d really like it if you’d watch it.
But yeah, I’m really thankful.
As expected, when I receive these messages... How should I say it…
It makes me realise that I became 26.
When people celebrate it with me.
There was this, and I mentioned this before but Nishikido celebrated it with me too.
The members celebrated it with me too.
And when people message me saying happy birthday, it made me realise it really is my birthday, and I’m really, really thankful.
Really, the people who send birthday messages to the show, and all the listeners, thank you so much. Really.
Lastly, from STBY.
We’ll close it up with a happy birthday gag.
So, if you will.
STBY: Ome-detou! (laughs)
Well!
Let’s listen to a song here.
Arashi’s season.

To the people listening to BAY STORM, good evening. I'm Matsuyama Kenichi. Also, Ninomiya-san, happy 27th birthday.
Nino: Thank you, Macchan.
Um, I, I've been in Ninomiya-san's care during GANTZ. Um, at that time..
Well, we were playing the same game, and really, I received a lot of advice.
Because of that, I was able to safely clear it.
Thank you very much. Eh, I think you're really busy every day, but please take care of your health and enjoy every day. Um, on my birthday, I received a cake from Ninomiya-san. I was really, very happy.
Nino: The cake that I made.
It was a good memory, a treasurable memory. Honestly, thank you so much back then.
Nino: Macchan, you said that at a lot of places.
Really, congratulations on your 27th birthday.
--End of Message--
Nino: We were just talking about Macchan.
That was a message from Matsuyama Kenichi.
Um, it's weird for me to say this, but I'll say it anyway.
He's cute, and I bet the girls in the world will think he's cute, unbelievably cute.
He's simple, somehow.
Now that I think about it, did Macchan have a bald cut for a drama?
Yeah, he got a bald cut.
That makes me happy.
I did GANTZ with Macchan.
Now that I think about it, he doesn't listen to what movements we have to do.
Ah, the other day, he said that Natsuna went to France or something.
I heard him say something like "Natsuna-chan, you should go over there and promote GANTZ!"
Well, that's fine. Really.
But I'd prefer it if she promoted it here in Japan (laughs).
Why would she go over there randomly to promote it? (laughs)
Right now, I'm really confused about that.
Well, for the person in charge of promotions in Japan, I'll do my best.
Well, Macchan and I.
Well, I'm happy.
Oh!
We also have a present from the BAY STORM staff!
This is from Micchan.
Micchan, what's this?
Champagne.
Oh! What about this? From Shinigami (Director).
Shinigami's present is heavy as well, this time round.
What is this?
This will really give off the excited birthday feel.
Hey, so is this Namakubi? Or something? This? Eh?
What is this?
Ah! It's shochu!
Heh.
Is it because it's inside a jar?
Wah! It uses the amu tree?
Ah, wow.
This is probably really fun.
Sorry, to get something from Shinigami too.
Ah, it's fine if Azu-chan doesn't give any.
Azu-san: Eh?
Ah, but I'm really happy, everyone.
Yes?
Ah, Azu-chan, sorry. It's fine.
Azu-chan: (laughs)
To get something from everyone. Really.
No really, I'm sorry (you had to go through the trouble of getting me something).
Yes?
Is something wrong?
This is from Azu-chan.
What is it?
Plum wine made from sake.
Ehh.
Ah.
Ehh.
It's from Niigata.
Hmm.
Thank you very much.
That you sent a message.
Also, on top of that, giving me presents.
Well, I'm already 27 years old.
I didn't think I'd live to 27 because I believed in Nostradamus. I thought we were all going to die. So I'm happy. Very happy.
If you think about it, it's been about 11 years. Since Nostradamus said that.
Wow.
It's been 11 years.
I'm even turning 27.
I'll think I'll keep working hard so that I can turn 28 next.
Also, thank you to everyone, for sending birthday messages.
So, let's listen to a song here.
Arashi's To Be Free.

--Message--
To the people listening to BAY STORM, good evening. Also, to Ninomiya-san, happy birthday.
I'm Hongo Kanata, who acted as Nishi Joichiro in GANTZ.
It was my first time working with Ninomiya-san on the movie GANTZ. In GANTZ, Nishi's role really goes against Kurono, which Ninomiya-san acted as.
I thought that I'd be really hated because of that, but he really warmed up to me.
When I was by myself, he'd come up and talk to me.
He said we should play games together. Really, he's an amazing person. We had a lot of fun together.
Nino: Sen! (Laughs) Sensei!!
Up until the end, I was able to have a lot of fun filming.
Nino: Me too, because of sensei.
It's all because of Ninomiya-san.
Nino: No, it's because of sensei. Really.
Even when you're playing the lead, even when we weren't filming, you really gave off the feel of making a team, and I really admire that!
Nino: Thank you! Yep.
The other day,
Nino: Other day?
We were together during the GANTZ promotions. It was our last day for GANTZ
Nino: That's true.
And then, I said my last greetings to Ninomiya-san and he said "Yeah, this would be the last farewell in their lives."
Nino: That's true, with sensei.
Nino: I won't be able to meet with sensei again.
I was shocked.
Nino: But sensei's...
Um, I'm still looking forward to meeting you again.
Nino: I see.
Yeah. So on that note, happy 28th birthday!
Nino: I wonder how old Sensei is?
I'd be really happy if we can play together again. This was Hongo Kanata.
--End of Message--
Thank you so much.
Really, Sensei.
STBY: Sensei.
It was his first appearance on radio.
Heh. I'm really thankful.
Really, I think I probably won't be able to meet him again.
STBY: No, that won't be the case.
Eh?!
STBY: You'll probably see him again somewhere.
But he's doing a lot of things.
I thought he'd probably have had a lot of trouble..
Like, for NANA?
STBY: Yeah.
He was in NANA.
The only thing I knew about him.
That he was in NANA.
STBY: Ahh.
Hongo-sensei.
But, the role that Hongo-sensei did was the same role that Matsuyama Kenichi did.
In NANA 1.
STBY: Oh really?
Yeah.
STBY: That's some kind of fate.
Somehow, yeah.
I thought that too.
I thought hehh..
STBY: Yeah.
Didn't he say he was doing a stage play recently?
Yeah.
He said it's a stage play directed by a school teacher.. Or something.
STBY: Heh.
Yeah.
STBY: So you were together with GANTZ.
Yeah.
He was perfect for Nishi-kun!
He really was perfect.
STBY: It's still playing at the cinemas.
Is it still showing?
STBY: Yeah.
Really?
STBY: I think it's at selected cinemas..
So it's not showing a lot at all cinemas?
STBY: Well, it's not showing a lot, but it's showing a lot in the regional areas.
Oh, is that so .
STBY: Yeah.
That's pretty amazing.
STBY: Yeah.
I see.
Thank y-o-u.
Well, let's meet again somewhere, Sensei.
STBY: Yeah.
Yeah. But really, sorry for getting out of your way and doing this, thank you so much.
So, shall we listen to a song?
STBY: Oh! I wonder what it is!
Now, please introduce the title.
STBY: Title?!
Should I give a suggestion? It's a solo. My solo.
STBY: I'm ready.
Yeah.
STBY: I just thought of it. The title is pretty cool.
Pre-pretty cool?
STBY: Pretty cool.
What does that mean?
STBY: Well, there's no real deep meaning..
Ah, so it just sounds pretty cool....
STBY: Yeah. It's very good.
Yeah.
STBY: It's pretty good. In a good way.
The moment you said it was pretty cool, Onigiri-kun kept on looking at his mobile.
Onigiri-kun.
Onigiri-kun: Eh?
STBY: Ah, were you looking at your phone?
Yes.
STBY: I see.
He didn't even look interested, he was just looking at the phone all the time.
STBY: Okay, that means it wasn't pretty cool.
So which is it?!
STBY: Pretty cool.
So.
STBY: Pretty cool. Pretty cool.
So we're going with Pretty cool? (laughs)
STBY: Pretty cool.
Pretty cool is good.
STBY: Yeah.
Okay. Then, shall we listen to it?
Ninomiya-san's.
STBY: Solo song.
Solo song. Please listen to it.
Doko ni demo aru uta.
And hopefully I'll be back with more :)
