I may be alone in this, but I find the close battles (on both sides) exciting. I think its good. Exactly what the primary process is for.

I wish Romney had stay in, would have made for a better race, even if the Religious-Right was getting split. Hell, that is more of a reason, as it forces them to decide on something beyond that one issue.

dems cant afford it and the pubs have too much going for themselves by remaining maniacally fused. (see also: don't think of an elephant by george lakoff for why the pubs refuse to divorce their evil fundie half... though, really, the book is more about how to debate/bicker/discuss topics with those conservative types)
