Now last week I was prepared to say that we could very well see one, maybe two brokered conventions. Part of me likes that idea, because it says that people like a choice and that the candidates (in theory) are offering differing things. Howard Dean was on MSNBC during Super Tuesday and while not explicitly coming out and saying it, he made it known that he wouldnt let the party be torn apart by Clinton/Obama/Superdelegates. I'm not saying that Howard Dean controls the Democratic party, but I find it at least a little refreshing that he acknowledges the problem and will do everything in his power to not let it come to that.

I may be alone in this, but I find the close battles (on both sides) exciting. I think its good. Exactly what the primary process is for.

I missed him saying that, and I'm highly intrigued as to how it is going to play out, and what he is going to try and do to keep the issue at a minimum.

I wish Romney had stay in, would have made for a better race, even if the Religious-Right was getting split. Hell, that is more of a reason, as it forces them to decide on something beyond that one issue.

were it not for the fact that such would mean another 4 years of republican presidency, 4 years durng which any one or more of the supreme court justices could die/retire, i'd wonder if it would be such a bad thing for the democratic party to splinter.

The Pubs could also use some splintering, like say, oh, Stop letting the Evangelicals run the party or at the very least rid themselves of this gawdawful neo-con movement.

I'm all for more than 2 mainstream political parties. Don't think it'll happen though.

dems cant afford it and the pubs have too much going for themselves by remaining maniacally fused. (see also: don't think of an elephant by george lakoff for why the pubs refuse to divorce their evil fundie half... though, really, the book is more about how to debate/bicker/discuss topics with those conservative types)
