It's been two weeks since I've updated. Things have happened, not too major, but things are things, and why have a journal if there's no updating, so here are some things that have happened.
To my surprise, Australia made it through to the second stage of the World Cup, then crashed out to Italy 1-0. Only four teams left in the competition now, getting down to the business end. Originally I thought it was going to be an Argentina v Brazil final, but that's obviously not happening now.
My dreams about work haven't been as bad. I think there were dreams where work people would appear, but not actual work work, so it's alright. I've been having trouble waking up though. I sleep quite early, I set my alarm, but when I wake up, it's an hour after I turn off my alarm without even remember doing so. That has happened for the last three days of the week. I've had to eat breakfast while I drive to the station. Even though my boss doesn't really care about turning up at 9.15, I like the fact of being able to leave earlier if I turn up earlier.
Speaking of work, we had a party to celebrate the end of the financial year - what an excuse for a party. I asked around people I knew on my floor to see who was going, I didn't have much luck. Even though my floor is mainly comprised of people who are in their 30s or 40s, with family and kids, there are some around my age. I didn't have luck finding anybody who was going. Luckily, some people I knew from another floor were going, so I wasn't going to be alone. One reason I really wanted to go was that I felt I didn't know enough people at work. I wanted to meet more people. The party started at 5, I was there a little later. It was packed with people. Most of the faces I have not seen before, and the first face I've spoken to was this annoying woman from the next cubical. She speaks everything out loud, she has an annoying loud voice, irritating. Nevertheless, I talked to her for ten minutes. I wasn't surprised that she was able to carry on for ten minutes, but after that I headed for the bar. While there, the CEO began to make his speech. During that, some people I know from the other floor showed up, cool, I had some other people to hang out with. There were only three of them, but I knew that they know more people than me, and that was my gateway to know more people. There were names I've heard of but never seen, there were faces I had seen but didn't know names to. Originally, I was planning to stay for about an hour, but I ended up staying for nearly three. That tells you that I had a good time. Not only that, but now I know more people, and more people know me. Back to work tomorrow, looking forward to it, got to know some people outside of work, makes it all that more enjoyable.
