[Kind of a continuance from yesterday's post.]
I learned a major lesson in the AM hours while talking to someone on AIM. It is to never simply judge a book by its cover, or go by what people say/gossip about. We all do it at some point, and it seems like such an easy concept to abide by, yet we know we all make assumptions based on stereotypes and what society has geared our minds towards as far as thinking is concerned. [REMEMBER THINKING IS EVIL!!!] In any case, I really learned the lesson the hard way because looking back, I was really biased and didn't really give a chance to the other side. It's like the frontrunner and the underdog - both start at the same starting line. Except, I didn't even draw a starting line and just rushed forward. In this case, I feel that everything does happen for a reason, because otherwise I would have never realized this. I'm still mixed with what I feel [a little crappy though lol], but this allows me to keep an open mind, which I believe is significant in order to better educate myself and learn about what's around me as opposed to what's only in my line of sight.
At the same time though, it has been a nice week meeting new people and talking to people I would never meet otherwise because of the massiveness of NYU. I'm looking forward to next week with an open mind again, just to see what's out there for me because honestly, NYU has so many opportunities. It's up to me to educate myself on them, figure out if it is right for me, and make the most of them. Gotta stop taking it for granted and start making NYU, MY school. If that makes sense.
Wow I like how I sound so deep and cool here! LOL =P
Okay well to add a note of randomness, I've been sticking my tongue out a lot in real life [something I never do] recently and I have no idea how it started.
