One one hand I'm happy that Cormac McCarthy won the Pulitzer, but on the other hand the appearance-obsessed literary hipster in me is sad: Even though I've been a fan of McCarthy since Blood Meridian, I put off buying The Road for too long- now I have to suffer the indignity of buying a book that has both a Pulitzer sticker and an "Oprah's Book Club!" sticker marring the jacket.
