My fast memory arrived today; 2x 2GB of Extreme III Compactflash. I bought two 2GB cards rather than one 4GB card in case something goes wrong with a card; this way I will still have another one as backup. I can now shoot exclusively in 12-bit lossless-compressed RAW, intead of shooting in 8-bit lossy-compressed JPEG. I tested it at lunch; 10 frames in a burst, before it slows down to half speed.
This should allow me to produce even better images (i.e. more detail and more dynamic range), although I am yet to be convinced about the true magnitude of those benefits. We shall see; speaking literally, of course.
