One of my friends has an ex that decided it would be a good idea to send her random BDSM porn and a set of extremely shitty ben-wa balls. I thought I could use them as a fidget toy, because it was just two weighted balls on a nylon cord, but I try this for a bit, and it turns out that they're snap-together plastic, and the weight, combined with my vigorous bouncing and swinging of the things, made it come apart. Who on earth would put this into their body?!

The wifi on the bus gave my Mac a kernel-panic. Back before I knew what I was doing with computers, I would always turn on the debugger; I was fascinated by the stack traces and register dumps. Now I can understand what panic(cpu 0 caller 0xffffff8028b732d2): assertion failed: ndi != NULL && ndi->initialized, file: /SourceCache/xnu/xnu-2050.24.15/bsd/netinet6/nd6.c, line: 3316 means, and if I felt like debugging my OS, I could go dig in and figure out why it crashed. I guess I've reached that point in my life.

A bunch of things about our new house have been kind of disastrous. No grounded outlets in the upstairs living areas, an electrical fire hazard under the sink, degraded cloth wiring in the kitchen, no GFIs in the bathrooms. The landlord is … difficult to communicate with, at best. We were told that a leaky shower needed to be completely removed in order to be fixed. I'm not a plumbing expert, but before I resorted to such a drastic repair, I would replace the valves in the faucets. We had a plumber over who did just that, and now it isn't leaking anymore. I'm also trying to avoid further contributing to the general unmaintained condition of the house; I've replaced plumbing components, wall plates, light fixtures, doorknobs, screws, bolts…

lalabob11 wants me to write a program for her, so I filed a ticket in the house bugtracker and wiki, which I still need to tie into the mailing list. I've made some curious choices in my life, to be able to say this with a straight face.
