All package managers suck. It's just a question of which ones suck more than others, and RPM is near the top of the list.

dpkg/apt is the most elegant and least fucked package manager I've ever used.

I have extra repositories for things like snapshot builds of irssi and xfce4.4 (4.3.90, actually.). Most everything else comes from the stock Debian archives.
