I stepped over the threshold into the ductwork. It was eerily quiet, and sound didn't travel as far as it should. Never before have I felt so disoriented. I needed to level off, move left, stand up, spin around to figure out where, if anywhere, the strange sensation was coming from, and walk away at the same time. Figuring it to be a strange one-time event, I composed myself, stepped out and back in, this time walking to the junction of the ducting upwards. Looking up was a mistake. The crushingly loud, yet stunningly inaudible noise that I could only feel in my mind came again, pushing me to the ground and squeezing me out of the ducting. It felt like freefall should feel. [Redacted] said that it was due to the fact that the ducting was only soundproofed on one side. I suppose that makes a certain amount of sense. For now, I mention only that the marshmallows caught fire (they were delicious) and I am going to sleep.
