I'm not sure, though. I think that Shishido is definitely lacking the skills to be the top of the Hyotei Regulars, but I also think he's lacking in the ambition. I mean, he is one of those people who REALLY LOVES TENNIS. OMG WHAT THE FUCK etc, etc, you know. Like the communism example. Shishido loves his country.

it's definitely a show. That's why I did the whole scene where he calls Ootori and Ootori si all, "But I was home last night!" and makes it sound completely real, because actually he was out and probably fucking around with Atobe and Oshitari but Shishido doesn't know that.

Taki!love is the best. He has long hair and is def. gay. Who can ask for more?

Ahaha, I think I get the ambition part now. Shishido doesn't have the ambition to be top in Hyotei, not in the tennis sense. (though he's awfully cocky when he first went up against Tachibana and lost 6 to... 1?)

Hmm...I'm not sure I agree with that. He does have ambition, and he does have skill, or he certainly would have never made it onto the Hyoutei team in the first place, let alone made it as a Singles player on the team (which is what he was, if you'll recall). Shishido's weaknesses were his conceit and a certain amount of complacency. Or at least, I've always seen them as such.

I stand by that opinion. You are, however, brilliant as well as crazy, and there are just so many things I adore here -- the Hyoutei rinse cycle, the contrast between Ootori-with-Shishido and Ootori-with-Atobe'n'Oshitari, ATOBE AND OSHITARI SMOKING TOGETHER BEHIND THE LOCKER ROOMS OH BE STILL MY HEART, just to name a few -- that it's impossible to point them all out.
