...to prevent my heart from being utterly broken, i am telling myself that this fic has an alternate ending--one where tezuka says "wo ai ni" a little louder into fuji's skin and fuji says "you've got a lousy accent, buchou" and they stay in china an extra month even though it means missing class, and maybe even tennis

The alternate ending to this fic is actually the ending that is WRAPPED UP IN THE ANNOYING SYMBOLISM, i.e. Fuji goes back to Tezuka, the planet, even though Tezuka thinks he is the fox, there is a reason for this I swaer I just did not articulate it so now I think I am going to be shot for writing it.

And also. Originally my idea for the Little prince mention was that Fuji asks Tezuka to draw him a sheep and TEzuka does and then Fuji tells him how bad his art skills are and when Fuji draws Tezuka a rose, Tezuka asks him what that is, and then they both fall into a giggling heap.
