Ahaha, no, sorry, the other Kara!! It's an epic HP fic where, uh, Harry has a twin brother and his twin brother is the ~chosen one~ and Harry is the extra....

I've only read up to like the first part of the second book, so I don't know! I didn't really like the first book all that much, but Kara says that it gets better as it goes on, haha, because the first book was really awkward and very HIGH FANTASY~~~~~ with GEORGE R R MARTIN SYNTAX~~~~ so I guess I will report back when I actually get into the second book again XD

OH RIGHT.

Uh I have like $30 left on my gift card to barns and noble and if you have book recommendations send them here. Book recommendations as in so good that you'd want this on your bookshelf to read over and over again.

Because I haven't read real books in years and that George R R Martin thing just went over my head.

As for what I think of this epic hp fanfiction... like I said, guilty pleasure. So guilty. I personally read I think like 5 books... and then skimmed and read the ending haha it was just too much and I kind of had to go to school in the morning xD

Have you ever read Elizabeth Knox's "The Vintner's Luck"? It's a story about a gay angel who helps a vintner make the wine of his dreams. At first I was like WHAT but it's amazing, and I frequently reread it ( ... )

I haven't read a book since middle school not counting the ones we had to read in class and the Isaac Asimov my friend shoved down my throat (I was kind of insulted by the portrayal of women and the climax wasn't that great)

BUT

You make me want to read these so I will! I promise! and I'll tell you what I think afterwards if you're willing to listen haha

OH THEN I MUST SAY, that Stephenson has some of the most ??? inducing portrayals of women ever. I think for me he has the Joss Whedon complex, which is that I think he is trying to create well-rounded women characters who are subjugated by men and by society, but inevitably succumbs to portraying them from a male gaze that's... disheartening. Which is not to say I don't like the women characters in Stephenson's novel, but he is very much a white nerd male engulfed in hacker culture, so it's something I have to keep in mind all the time. But I go to bat for Stephenson's writing all the time, knowing that he makes a mess of certain issues, and can't end a novel to save his life, but he's such a good writer and fabulously entertaining that I can't help but love him.

OF COURSE I AM WILLING TO LISTEN :D I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR YOUR OPINIONS ABOUT THEM LATER if you end up reading them!

I think I'm the one who recced Vintner's Luck to Cathy -- I love this book and want to make everyone read it! But a.) don't watch the terrible film or b.) the slightly-less terrible sequel (where he bones a thinly-fictionalized Howard Hughes and Lucifer is chillaxing in phone booths, alsdkjfalksjdlkajd; NEIN)
