thoughts on artimation

I want to start working on my Artimation project but i'm not sure how to go about it. After last quarters experience with Game Prototyping I've learned I'd rather focus on game evironments rather than character animation. I've watched two years of Artimation shows, and never have I seen an entry that focused on the environment. I've seen entries that had both a character and an environment, but never just an environment. Obviously cuz characters are more interesting to look at.

So if I want to focus on an environment, I'll also have to have some sort of character in the skit, by my logic. But that means more work. Not to mention I have -no- idea what kind of character to use. I could use a very simple cartoonie character, but that wouldn't fit in with a more complicated serene environment like I'd like to do. And going all out on a serious character takes a lot of time and effort and theres no way I could do that and an environment by september 22nd.

This frustrates me. I don't know how to tie my game interests into the type of contest contents I'm used to seeing. I've seen some really simple stuff in artimation. An interesting character going through some simple, unique animations. Or an extremely simple character going through various cute emotives. But like... I don't want to focus on character animation. Character animation is a bitch. If I get recognized for an Artimation entry I want it to be something I'm actually interested in doing for a job lol.

Hm... or maybe I could have a very small, very simple creature. So it'll scuttle around the environment... like a little bug or something. And this way the details in my environment won't be missed. Little bug characters can be cute and comical too... Hmmmm....

*wanders off to develop this idea further*
